Do we then condemn Andy Keogh on the basis of one bad performance at international level?
One game is not enough to judge anyone, albeit I have seen Bruce play quite a bit in the Championship and Division One and don't rate him.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Well as I said in my previous post, I can tell that Potter has a good future on last nights performance alone. I wouldn't write a player off on 1 game though. I might be completely wrong on Potter but we'll have to see.btw, that doesn't mean I think that anyone that comes in and puts in a motm performance on his debut has a good future...
It's like that guy Jamie McCarthy. If he has the intelligence, technical ability and attitude he's supposed to have then he's pretty much a guaranteed success imo. Which is why teams are willing to pay £1m for him.

How many times have you seen Potter this season? He is not an average player. Similarly comparing him to Whelan is an unfair comparison as they play different roles - Potter plays deep, whereas Whelan is more attacking. As someone who has seen Potter play 20+ games this season I can say with certainty that he is has acquitted himself well and a rather more informed opinion of your criteria below would suggest that he is worthy of being in contention for future squads:
1. Performed well in previous Internationals - Man of the Match
2. Playing and starting regularly at the top level of football - He will after we get promoted next season
3. Performing well for their clubs - Has consistently played this season after being switched from Right Wing displacing Karl Henry (Wolves captain) as our defensive midfielder
4. If not playing at the top level then has to be good enough for the top level (Potter at present isn't IMO) - He is in mine and time will tell.
We are all entitled to our opinions, which makes this site so interesting, however disdainfully disregarding other people's considered views is always going to set you up for a fall, especially given little justification for your arguments.
I have yet to fall Manc Irish Wolf. Also Whelan has played a similar role for Wednesday as Potter for Wolves. I wouldn't say that Whelan was an attacking midfield player by any stretch.
Another man on his high horse. Let's only discuss full competitive International fixtures from now on. So that's one post each every 3 months.

Jaysus, when someone suggested we have Alex Bruce*, I didn't think things could get any worse, then this happens!
Ah well, we're a "broad church", so let me welcome you over to OWC, in a hateful, bigoted sort of way. Then you'll learn what "messin with your mind" really means!
* - Having seen Bruce play a couple of times, he wouldn't get into our team even after 25 withdrawals. (And I don't think we have 25 players in the first place!)
If Potter can do the job that Stan & Robson wanted O'Shea to do, but to do it without the carelessness then great.
O'Shea is let down in midfield by not having a central midfielder's instincts. Being able to take a pass under pressure, protect the ball and always know your out ball is much easier said than done. Hopefully this is what Potter brings to the table.
If he's good in the tackle, mobile and gives and takes simple passes then that's just what we need. Players like Stephen Ireland and Glenn Whelan are more creative with the ball. I think Whelan is a more deep lying playmaker type, Ireland a more advance playmaker type but both are different to Potter.
If Manc Wolf has seen Potter all year then I'm perfectly happy to trust his judgment. I've really only seen clips. He conceded possession carelessly at Selhurst Park when Wolves lost to Palace, costing them a goal, but other than that I haven't seen him do much wrong.
I'll look at the replay tonight with interest.
Wolves pushed Potter deeper than he used to play, so it seems he's fairly flexible that way. I only saw the first half last night, but he seems to have a decent range of passing to his game. I doubt he's ready, but given how many of our central midfielders in the past have only really come good in their mid twenties, he's worth keeping on the back boiler.
You can't spell failure without FAI
Are you a Liverpool reserves season ticket holder as well as Birmingham, Ipswich and Leicester season ticket holder? Busy manYou said in another thread you regularly go to watch McCarthy at Leicester and seeing as you know everything about all these young players I assume you never miss a match.
He backed Ecuador as well![]()
Whelan? I haven't seen him play in over a year.
Potter? eh, I think last night was the first time I've actually "backed him".
Stokes? He'll be a great striker imo. There's no doubt in my mind about that. We'll have to see though, I'll probably be wrong.
McGeady? I tell people how I think he's doing at Celtic seeing as I watch them every week. It took me til last October to say that McGeady deserves his shot for Ireland. That form has since dropped. I'm certainly not biased towards McGeady and I wouldn't have him in the Ireland team with everyone fit. He'll be an excelent player in a few years if he stays with Strachan. His form for the first 3 months of this season was abosutely fantastic.
I don't understand the "pinch of salt" bit. Care to expand?
At least wait until the players prove me wrong before slagging me off.
I actually didn't.I backed over 2.5 goals instead so I still lost.
