Im away so can anyone let me know if its true that pike are runnin a bus up to UCD with players from a load of youth teams in town to give them a look at whats available in limerick for the UCD u21 side. if it is im ashamed and will be changing my name on here and will never spend a penny in that clubhouse again
Any update on this?![]()
conny is ringing all best young players in town to see what is available to play a match against ucd today i think. he gets on well with pete mahon apparently. nothing to do with pike rovers.
If this is going to help any of these lads to get a scholarship in UCD then fair enough - but if it is just trawling for players then they should be encouraged to go to L37.

So while Declan Considine should be admonished for touting our young talent to UCD (Connie can't even spell or pronounce 'scholarship'), then the onus is on L37 to combat it.
Hi
Limerick 37 made a commitment to the LDL that we would not approach clubs until after the season ended, we were keeping to this and while we would always put the education of all young players first, we do have some misgivings as to the way this scouting trip was organised. There will in the near future, be some announcments relating to the education of young players in Limerick and any players thinking of travelling long distances should wait before making any decisions until these announcments are made.

It's one thing advising a young fella to wait before making decisions. It's another thing peventing him from making them. The prospect, however remote, of a scholarship, or something possibly bigger is going to make any young fella with ambition jump on that bus. It's morally wrong what Connie is doing, but part and parcel of the game today. I appreciate the commitment made to the LDL, but football at this level is a business now, and a cut-throat one at that. I am sure the club know the names of the players on that bus. A non-commitment 'chat' with those players that may well be assets to L37 in the future wouldn't break any commitment to the LDL, but could be benefical to the club in years to come. I'd hate to pick up a paper in 2-3 years and see that UCD have just sold any player from that bus trip to a UK club for a million quid. Commitments to the LDL and the likes are very honourable and commendable, but a football clubs first commitment should be to itself, its future and its fans. I know what I'd be doing...![]()
