Agree that we need to take the positives out of the situation. Having seen our lacklustre performance from the senior players against Chile & Holland at the end of the season - this tour would probably be better served blooding the young kids. In all honesty, I was initially disappointed to see Kilbane's name in the squad at the expense of a younger player - What is there to learn about Kilbane that we don't already know? It would have been a good chance to put out an Under 25 Squad for the future from the outset, resting the older players, who we know plenty about and letting the young kids either sink or swim.

It can't do any harm as it gives the young kids a chance to play against quality opposition, play in front of large (ish) crowds, adapt to the senior environment and serves as a reward for their progression.

Would have liked to see Garvan, McCann & O'Donovan included, however there could be method in Stan's madness as he may think certain individuals are too cocky, or are in a comfort zone at their current clubs prompting them for a move up a division. Probably best not to delve too deep into Stan's psyche though.

How can anyone criticise O'Shea for pulling put after playing through injury for the past few months? Give him a break, he can only seem to do wrong in the eyes of most posters on here.

Such a shame, back in previous friendly tours to the US in 92, 93, 96 and 2000, most senior players came. These "family commitments" excuses were not heard of back then.
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.

He should have informed Staunton when he was picked as squad captain but can lay that on other players too. Then again maybe he did tell Staunton... you never know...

As I pointed out in another thread he would have been accused of faking the injury if he announced that he was pulling out and then subsequently played for Man Utd, although waiting until the season was over hasn't seemed to make much of a difference seemingly.

Well judging by the pics on his bebo page, he is no longer with the wife / girlfriend and is spending the last few weeks out on the **** with young ones.

I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

could you post us a link to his bebo page.

This little c%Łt tried to rip me off on ebay and while I got my money back, I found him on bebo. My missus called me a bebo stalker but **** it if I didn't get my money back I was going to do redistribute some justice on his shooting hand!

For those interested it concerned a psp and he did it to about 6 of us in the space of one day.

I may be wrong but I think he just went on a rant that has nothing to do with Stephen Ireland or football.

Anyone see the tabloids this morning? The tabloids really plunder this site.

"IRISH SOCCER ACE DRUG DEALS ON NET"

"Posters on popular Irish "Soccer" website "Fotts.ie" have blown the whistle on an Irish Soccer starlets drug dealing shame.

A poster described how he tried to score some "PSP" on the controversial teen site "Bobo". The Irish soccer maestro has a page on the site where he co-ordinates his drug empire from the comfort of his Chesire Mansion.

Reports that some of the current Irish Management have used this dealer have not been confirmed."
