    Paddy Kenny

Read in the Sun yesterday that he's thinking of asking for a transfer so he can stay in the Premiership and push Given for his place in the Ireland team. having read several times over the years how much he's wanted to play for Ireland, the only conclusions are that (1) his break from international football is entirely to do with Stan and (2) he doesnt think Stan will be around much longer.

Or, he was having a tough time, with among other things his wife cheating on him with a team mate. He chose to take some time out from international football for a while. He's thinking about coming back.

But no, you're right. It's all about Staunton.

He wouldn't be a first team player at any of those, Villa have Sorensen, Everton are only after signing Howard, and Wigan have England international Chris Kirkland. At best he'd be a back up to Howard (after releasing Wright) or Kirkland. Kiraly is a decent back up to Sorensen

Sunderland is linked with him in rumors and he is listed on their sites rumor tracker page. Of course any Irish player who is unsettled or looked to move on is bound to be linked to Sunderland at this point. But their goalkeeper isn't that strong so it is a logical link.

I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

Kiraly is a free agent right now I think and Kenny is probably better than him. I rate Kenny and I think him formerly being fat (he really isn't anymore) is why people have such grudges against him. Go ahead and google some high profile errors, but Shay let in 5 goals from Birmingham City this season and no one is denying he is a phenom of a keeper.

Well Gordon Strachan for example rates him as the best goalkeeper he's ever worked with ...I would think Paddy would struggle to dislodge Kirkland and would be relying on him picking up an injury.

Kenny is deluded if he thinks he's going to be challenging Given for his place in the Ireland team. Next year he's more likely to be challenging Logan, Randolph, Supple and Henderson just for a place in the squad (Given and Doyle will be first and second choice).

Kenny is easily good enough for the Premiership and BY FAR the second best keeper Ireland currently have. He took far too much flak for the performace in Cyprus IMO. Doyle et al have yet to prove themselves and the likes of Colgan are never going to be as good

He's been consistently good all season. He won't challenge Given but if he came out and said he's looking to get back on the bench for Ireland people would accuse him of lacking ambition.

BTW it was his best mate (not a footballer) who shagged his missus so amybe geting away from Sheffield would help him personally too.

    Good luck to him

She had affairs with 2 of his mates I think. Not sure if the other lad
    was footy related.

Not true. Have you watched him play for Ireland? He's been dodgy in a number of games for Sheffield United also.

I think he's blown his chance after his pull outs. With Doyle coming through the ranks and establishing himself at Brum plus Randolph getting first team football (who had a very good game according to my boss who went up to Anfield) we seem to be doing ok for goalkeepers.

We have a crop of fine young goalkeepers coming through the ranks, Doyle (Birmingham), Randolf (Charlton), Logan (Leicester), Supple (Ipswitch) and Henderson (Preston). Add in Joe Murphy (S****horpe) and David Forde (Cardiff) and we are really well served, so much so that we need not worry whether Kenny wants to play for Ireland or not. Besides I'd say Shay Given will be around for at least another 5 years.
