And cup specialists only a few years ago, are you watching drogheda
If anything points deductions might make people take more of an interest in the league. After all they're all doing it in England, possibility of West Ham in Premiership, Leeds in first, pretty sure some team in League One also. Just look down through the tables on Sky Sports news, hardly a division without an asterix.
* That would be Rotherham in League One and Crawley town in the Conference
* All the cool kids are doing it
* Look they make lovely bullet points
* See

Tallaght Stadium Regular
2000/2001 was the last season without a points deduction (including 2002/3 when Longford's was revoked). That's 7 seasons in a row!
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
They shouldn't have got a License in the first place.
Harsh but true.
They should've been relegated and would've had the chance to cut their cloth and re-build in the 1st division. Now they are effectively fecked as far as the Premier goes and no doubt getting into more debt.
I don't think we should be getting hung-up on the asterisks.
It's clear that Longford aren't playing by the books here, so some sort of penalty is due.
If it takes another decade of asterisks on the league tables before clubs get their houses in order and take licensing seriously, then so be it. It's the league as a whole that will benefit form weeding out the mediocrity.
When was the last time the English Premiership wasn't mirred in some sort of contaversy - from flying pizzas, to flying boots, to players assaulting each other, to dogs going for unapproved walkies !?!
i dont think is that bad of a blip for the league as for once its their professionalism that has actually cause the points deductions... there i said it the league is professional for once.....
shall i leave now???
fantastic, thats us fooked for this season so..
unlike some clubs you wont find a longford fan that didnt see this coming though...
arent we all just magic little monkeys...
Even taking into account this press release?

Would appear to be an element of ostrich-like behaviour going on within the club.
I was watching last saturday and well done it was deserved, now all you need to do is reach the champions league 1/4 final to break even
Glad to see FAI continue to crack down on rogue clubs ... the league and the clubs will be the better of it in the long run ... ive no sympathy for them ... loads of stories about water being almost cut off etc doing the rounds for months ... where theres smoke theres fire!
bhs
Wow. The FAI deducted points from Longford to give Galway United a dig out again.
Longford fans must be really peeved about this because they probably didn't deserve the points reduction but understand that it must be done for Galway United's survival in the Premier Division.
Nobody knows us, we don't care
