Nigel Worthington should be the last person that N I go for,as one poster already stated the way his players used to pull out of Internationals was a disgrace, besides that what has he ever achieved as a manager?Northern ireland need to take their time and ensure they get the right man for the job so that we never go back to the disastrous days of Mcilroy and McMenemy.

Has to be Dowie, though Neil Warnock may be suited to us.

Think Martin O'Neill will eventually end up managing the Republic.

I doubt it, I'd say he's aiming a little higher than the Rep.

Is it true that Coleman was at the SSC final with IFA officials?

Coleman was at the Setanta Cup Final where he pointed out that 1. he was at the previous years Setanta Cup Final and nothing was made of it and 2. He's no interest in managing any international team but Wales.

In that respect he is of course entitled to be "old fashioned" as he put it -but I think that's crazy talk. Managers are essentially an extension of technical staff. You don't check the team doctors passport.

It is crazy talk. Afterall where would the Republic of Ireland be without Charlton. Just because you have no ties with a particular country, doesn't mean you can't do a job.

So you wouldn't have a problem with taking Stan off our hands then?

Actually I think he's married to a northern girl isn't he? Or have I got it @rseways.

As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

Wouldn't be my choice personally. He hasn't done much as a manager. Promoted a team then relegated them, then got sacked and hasn't held down a job since. Hardly awe inspiring.

As I said before that was pure luck by the IFA.

Nichol is who we wanted as manager but the IFA weren't prepared to pay the money. So they went the cheap route and got Sanchez. Thankfully Sanchez proved everyone wrong and he turned out to be a great manager.

Can we be lucky again? I don't think so.

In Nigels defence, or even just playing Advocat Diabolus, while his apparent reluctance to release Mulryne and McVeigh will not have endeared him to NI supporters -his duty was to do what he felt was in Norwich Citys best interests.
