We have won the All Ireland, post Partition, 4 times. Add that to the Irish Cup, and league pre partition, then we have been the best in the Island many times... but Drogheda, should they win the EL, still couldn't claim to be the 'first' AI Champions.. we won our league after being crowned the first AI champions 2005/06

Anyway.. fair play to them, and like I said on another thread, we will see you in next years final, more than likely in Baile Atha Claith*. We will put the cup back in its rightful place.. Windsor Park

Just as a side note, this summer football thing you lot have going has its upsides.. In this next load of weeks we will have nothing to go watch... now I just have to get my head around that Gaelic stuff on TG4...

Any of you Drog fans... a bag was found in your end. It is an Adidas rucksack/backpack, with a set of keys with a pic of a baby on them. The girls name (the Mom?) began with a D.. anyway, ring Windsor Park and it will be arranged to get it sent down to your place.

2005/6 doesn't really count as the Setanta Cup was won in the previous season. However as I pointed out earlier in this thread you are the only club to win the league and current North South cup in the same season. You did it twice in 61/2 (when you won 7 of the 8 trophies you entered) and 70/1.

Shamrock rovers have actually won 6 All Ireland Cups

Correct. I'm new here and would just like to say congratualtions to Drogheda on their win on Saturday. As muh as it pains me to say it, it was well deserved, even though we may have nicked it at the endof normal time and again at the end of extra-time, but when it went to penalies, I knew it was over. I was very surprised we won on penalties last week in the ICF given our terrible record with them, and I knew it wouln't happen 2 weeks in a row.
No excuses, however I'd just like to know wha people thought of the Vilmunen v McAreavey incident in the second half. I've only seen it once, at the match, but it appeared that he lnded a right-hook on Maccers after Paul fouled him. McAreavey seemed to think so as well.
With regard to the attendance, the Irish times said something in the region of 6300?? I'd say it was more like 8500, with about 1900 Drogs fans and 6600 Bluemen.

Well done Drogs, they played very well. And you are definately a better team than Cork.

You might not have had the same possession as Cork but you made more cast iron chances and you have the will to win rather than Corks will to whinge.

Linfield battled hard, but it was one game too many, we where very tired and all 3 changes we made where forced by injury during the game.

Good luck to Drogheda this season, out of the 2 Irish teams and Derry City you where the best team.

Not sure how fair it is to judge Drogheda as "definately a better team than Cork" on one performance 300 miles from home?

Notwithstanding this I reckon Drogs will end up winning the League this season, which is generally the accepted approach of determining the "best team".

Here.. wait till you hear the way we are supposed to say it ffs!! With 'our' accented version being, or sounding, so different, whats the point? Could we not just petition TG4 to do the games in English as well?
