this is the second time this week that I've seen or given this recommendation. a mate said the same thing. Any time I have watched it I didn't enjoy it.

He also mentioned it whilst we were fawning over Arrested Development... so he may not be talking crap if I am to take both opinions together.

give it a few episodes, the first series doesn't really get going until the annoying english professor is removed from the storylines

the two paint ball episodes are some of the funniest tv I've seen in the last few years

As funny as the AD chicken dances or Tobias' faux pas?

Different. Imagine an entire episode devoted to a paintball competition which has gotten ridiculously out of hand, packed with references to everything from Die Hard to Predator.

Malcolm Tucker is my hero, even if his best quote was an outtake. The next series must be out soon (was supposed to be March 2012), but I haven't seen it advertised yet.

Finished Season 1 of Breaking Bad. Just brilliant. We'll be starting Season 2 asap. I've to make a pick for the nights the missus is out - probably learning towards a rewatch of something. I miss The Wire, so will probably go for that!

Breaking Bad is watchable (a high enough rating).
Usually one series of that type of stuff would be enough for me or the storyline just doesn't stretch to another series, but BB manages to keep you coming back and be satisfied with the fare. During the 4th series I started to question my commitment but the series ending episodes made it worthwhile.
For the first time I watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, a BBC (8 x 50min) oldie, a free from digital effects atmospheric thriller. I had watched the recent film but got lost after 2 minutes and didn't enjoy it at all, however the tv production I have to say scores high on all fronts

Once you're done with Community, start with Parks and Recreation.
The first, short, series is passable, everything after it is quality

I saw the first episode of Parks and Rec. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

It does go to show just how far ahead of the curve AD was and yet was cancelled. It spawned most of what we watch now.

Don't you ever, ever, ever call me a bully. I'm so much worse than that.

Also not technically Tucker but Jamie...

You're about as secure as a hymen in a South London comprehensive.

I have this one on a tea towel.... "If some c**t can f**k something up, that c**t will pick the worst possible time to f**king f**k it up cause that c**t's a c**t."

Didn't go with The Wire rewatch in the end, went with The Black Donnellys. Looks ok two in, but no more than that really.

The Black Donnellys was actually ok. Some ropey moments and acting but generally enjoyable even though they caned it half way through and as a result rushed the ending. Was very disappointed it didn't get a second season.

HBO cancelled Luck by the way due to the death of a third horse while filming. Yikes...
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Has anyone watched Alcatraz yet? I've watched the first few episodes and finding it quite dull and predictable. Is it worth sticking with it?

    A giant meh!

I haven't finished it yet. Wouldn't recommend it to someone that hasn't started watching, but its only thirteen episodes - though by all accounts it doesn't get much better.

I stuck with that aliens amongst us thing last year, can't remember the name. It was terrible the whole way through, but the ending was brilliant I actually wanted to see that second series. Don't think I'll get that that with alcatraz though.

Finished The Black Donnellys. I thought it was alright - it could've developed nicely if it had been let. As someone said earlier - the end was, and definitely felt, rushed. A bit of missed opportunity.

Re-watched Yes, Minister (watched all the series about 3-4 years ago). Really gives a massive insight into politics and how government works. The characters, even the occasional ones, are excellent.

It's a great programme, but the extent that it reflects how government works is overplayed imo. It's still used as an excuse for politicians to hide behind to this day, and hence why politicians love it so much as it gives them cover. It most certainly it isn't my experience of how civil servants and politicians interact in an Irish context where it's very much the responsibily minister says jump, and the senior civil servants (aka permenant Government ) says how high. Yet even here we have lazy references to the "Sir Humphries".
