Drogs should bring a bigger crowd than their last 2 games at Windsor, which were midweek night games in fairness.

Saturday at 5.00pm seems an ideal time for a lot of Drogs to travel. I know they've a special train booked.

Hope there's a big crowd and a decent atmosphere

They brought around a 1000 to Windsor last time if I remember, so that's why I'm expecting them to bring 3 or 4000 this time.

Hopefully the crowd will be the biggest yet in the final.

Yeah I remember being fairly impressed with the crowd they brought to the semi last year.

Would be nice to see the attnedance over the 10k mark.

Eh we didnt sing the Fields of Athenry

If you mean the Fields of Bishopstown which we sing at every game we play then Im sorry we offended their sensitivities about us playing in Bishopstown

Ffs half the city fans would probably join in with a chorus of we are the billy boys...theres been enough renditions of it on our buses to **** off the celtic heads

Please trawl over the millions of posts already made on this topic. There's no point in starting this in yet another thread.

just to clarify, here are the lyrics:

Low lie the fields of Bishopstown,
Where once we watched the Cork City play,
Billy Woods was on the wing (City)
We had dreams and songs to sing (Turners Cross)
Its so lonely round the fields of Bishopstown

Its sung at every single City game i have ever been to and there is absolutley no sectarian element to it whatsoever
low lie the fields of Bishopstown......

    Just for reference-

    Words of 'The Sash'

For its here I am an Orangeman, just come across the sea
For singing and for dancing, I hope that I'll please thee,
I can sing or dance with any man
As I did in days of yore
And its on the Twelfth I long to wear the Sash my Father wore.

    Chorus

It is old but it is beautiful. Its colours they are fine
It was worn at Derry, Aughrim, Enniskillen and the Boyne
My Father wore it as a youth in the bygone days of yore
And its on the Twelfth I long to wear, the Sash my Father wore.

For it's now I'm going to leave you, good luck to you I'll say
And when I'm on the ocean deep, I hope for me you'll pray
I'm going to my native land, to a place they call Dromore
Where on the Twelfth I long to wear the Sash my Father wore.

    Chorus

Whenever I come back again my brethren here to see
I hope to find old Orange style, they will always welcome me
My favourite tune's "Boyne Water", but to please me more and more
And make my Orange heart full glad with the Sash my Father wore.

    Chorus
    And our National Anthem

    1
    God save our gracious Queen,1
    Long live our noble Queen,
    God save the Queen:
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us:
    God save the Queen.
    2
    O Lord, our God, arise,
    Scatter her enemies,
    And make them fall.
    Confound their politics,
    Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
    God save us all.
    3
    Thy choicest gifts in store,
    On her be pleased to pour;
    Long may she reign:
    May she defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
    God save the Queen

    The Fields of Athenry

    -1-
    By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young girl calling
Micheal they are taking you away
    For you stole Trevelyn's corn
So the young might see the morn.
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay.

    Chorus
Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

    -2-
    By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young man calling
Nothing matter Mary when your free,
Against the Famine and the Crown
I rebelled they ran me down
Now you must raise our child with dignity.

    Chorus

    -3-
    By a lonely harbor wall
She watched the last star falling
As that prison ship sailed out against the sky
Sure she'll wait and hope and pray
For her love in Botany Bay
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

    Chorus

    ................

Nothing in the slightest way sectarian

in fairness, whether we want to go down this route or not (and i don't) the original posters reference was nothing to do with 'the sash' but more to do with 'we are the billy boys' i would think.

Some of those Orange tunes are class when you hear the bands playing them. Build My Gallows is deadly.

Can't say I care too much for some of the football-stadium versions, though ...

If that was the case, said person should have just said Billy Boys - Which i think 95% of people would condemn at Windsor. We are trying hard to get rid of it totally, but it will take a long time. Also it is a society problem as much if not more than a Linfield problem.

That's not the point. It's your right to go down that route that is the issue.

Believe it or not, thousands of Catholic people from Northern Ireland used to go to the parades, it's only a recent phenomenon that Catholic people where getting offended(last 20 or so years).

But anyway, we are straying well off topic.

Billy Boys etc is not acceptable and most Linfield supporters agree.

An issue that Linfield are trying to address.

I would happilly join in everyones condemnation of Linfield if Linfield where not trying to sort it out.

But Linfield are and rather than being condemned they should be praised in there efforts.

1 song is unnacceptable, I agree, but 10 years ago there would have been 90 minutes of sectarianism. Now we only get the odd burst, which although not perfect, it is headin in the right direction and I feel that people should focus more on where Linfield are going rather than where we are now. We are on the right path and we are walking down the right path. It is just going to take time to erradicate Sectarianism 100%.
