I fail to see the relevance of either and yes I did know the LFC situation.

Also the thing about switching clubs came up when I was talking to an ex-LFC fan who said he wouldn't follow 37.

None of the points you've put forward have made the comments by your spokesman any less embarrassing!

This ex-LFC 'fan' wouldn't have had wiry black hair, dress like an itinerant and act like Daft Dave would he?

There is no reason or logic as to why any person would not support Limerick 37 if they come from Limerick. As I said earlier, if there was an alternative side to support in the city then I could understand it, but there isn't so thats purely hypothetical.

I seem to remember reading on Bohs forums last year that elements of ye're 'die-hard Cabra support base' were talking about not supporting Bohs if they moved 3 miles up the road to Diswellstown. How embarrassing is that?

    Speaking of embarrassments....Roddy Collins??

If there was only one club in each county, then you would support Dublin would you not? As the point has been made several times to you, we support Senior Soccer in the city, whoever it may be and whatever guise it may take. Throw stones all you want, sneer all you like. We're proud of our city and our club.

And when ye become a 'big' club like Rovers, or like Shels were and Pats are about to be, then come back and sneer some more.

    Until then, p1ss off.

    Hi BohsFans

I am sure that there are any number of people who would like to support only one club, there is however a difficulty in this as for decades the EL was poorly run and did not invest in player development. The players and supporters of EL clubs were seen as a poor relation to the more glam clubs across the water and in mainland Europe. I am a realist and as such can see on a daily basis the level of support that exists for English teams here in Ireland, the EL clubs are faced with a number of decisions in relation to expanding their current support base

    1. Source new supporters who have never supported soccer before
    2. Ask supporters of English clubs to switch allegiance
    3. Encourage supporters of English clubs to also support their home EL side
    4. Do nothing to increase support

It’s a no brainer to me but I respect your views on the matter.

By the way if we do manage to convert even 10 supporters of English clubs to Limerick 37 FC that will be the tip of the iceberg as that 10 will spread the word of Limerick 3:7 and multiply

See I can spout embarrassing stuff on tap!!! But it’s all in a good cause.

    Put-down of the month?

Lads, time to stop rising to the bait. If he doesn't understand now he never will. And is the ex-LFC supporter not as much of a turn-coat by his reckoning? Anyway, we can take it up with him next season.

thanks for the mature reply, but asking people who support their English clubs to come along every second week to an el game is next to impossible.
Those people are finished/tarnished, will never change their ways. The only way is getting the young generation at the moment in and reaping the rewards later on. Anyway, we're never gonna agree when you have fools like 'joeSoap' on here!

It's not realistic to ask someone to stop supporting a team after 20 years and switch alliegence, whether it's an English/Spanish/Scottish club or whatever. I've supported Liverpool as long as I've known what a football was, which is about 20 years now. There isn't a hope in hell that I would even consider NOT supporting them. They are engrained in me and I have as much passion for and connection to them as I do for Limerick.

I do not buy in to this EL fan bulls**t regarding English soccer/barstoolers/premiersh*t - it smacks of jealousy and eminates from a load of sad men frustrated with the state of Irish football (which is due to the incompetent knobheads that ran our game/clubs down through the years and that unfortunately by and large still run them). All our top players play in England, and thus English football has a huge Irish fan base. AND ALWAYS WILL, regardless of how much progress the EL makes, so get over it Until the Irish domestic game get's itself in shape, it will continue to be like this. We're about 10/15 years away from having a decent league, infrastructurally anyway.

What is realistic is to assume and expect that a football fan would have an interest in supporting his local EL team as well as his overseas team, like most EL fans do. That should be the core area target (as well as young fans) for EL clubs. But it's all based on infrastructure and providing fans with proper football stadia and services.

Nobody is asking anybody to switch allegiance. If these football fans don't support their home team by now they'll hardly start at this stage. This is about taking some money from them so they get cool Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal scarves with their home town club on the other side so they can show them to their Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal buddies when they fork out all the money on their expensive habit of long-distance football support. If we make a few bob great. If they decide to come to the odd game even better. They can join all the other football supporters there who also support non-Irish teams. The sanctimonious clap-trap of some eL supporters is bloody annoying. They continue to stick their head in the sand and carp about Irish people supporting foreign football clubs. This carping just turns people off. Its best just to accept it, after all they are losing out on the joys of real live football - not us.

Whats wrong with them? The only thing that could make them better is twinning it up with an L37 one!
