Seriously though, he did ok at Fulham, wonder what his record after that is like?

Paul was appointed as Halifax manager in October 2000, seven months after leaving Craven Cottage having been given little time to fulfil the clubs' lofty ambitions of promotion to the Premiership.

Most people probably remember Paul from his days as a midfielder in the Championship winning Everton side of the mid-eighties. He won two League Championship medals, an FA Cup medal and a Cup Winners Cup medal as an integral part of Howard Kendall's side. His playing career started with Stoke where he emerged as a product of the youth system, signing as a professional in 1980.

He moved to Sunderland in 1983 before joining Kendall at Goodison a year later. After five successful years on Merseyside he rejoined Sunderland and appeared in his third FA Cup final where he was on the losing side for the second time in his career.

Kevin Keegan brought Paul in to the Newcastle side in1992 as The Magpies became a major force in English football once again but he left St. James' Park to return to Wearside for the third time as he linked up with former team-mate Peter Reid to help Sunderland reach the Premiership for the first time.

Keegan came in for Bracewell once more as he moved to Fulham to help the promotion push at Craven Cottage and he took over managerial responsibilities when the call came from the FA for Keegan to become the England manager.

Having retired from playing to focus fully on management, Bracewell found it difficult to maintain the success of his predecessor but it was still something of a surprise when he left Fulham after less than a year in charge with Mohammed Al Fayed looking to bring Frenchman and former Monaco manager Jean Tigana to The Cottage.

He jumped at the opportunity to return to management with Halifax, facing a completely different challenge as he strove to lift The Shaymen away from the prospect of relegation from the football league to a position of security in Division Three.

Although relegation was avoided in 2000/2001, a disappointing start to the following season saw Bracewell dismissed at the end of August as veteran midfielder Neil Refearn took temporary charge of the team.

Paul is eager to return to management once again however and still looks to have a promising future in the dug-out having gained invaluable experience at the lower end of the scale following his initial grooming at Fulham.
