It runied it for you? Would you stop. From reading your posts here and on bigsoccer you'd have probably used that line no matter what Italy did at the world cup. I watched every minute of every game Italy played and they were far from the worst. Also, Italy are doing much, much more than the likes of England to clamp down on diving.

As for Grosso winning the peno against Australia. I don't know any player in the world that wouldn't have went down to that stupid challenge by Neil in the last minute of a game. I can only imagine a player that would go out of his way to avoid Neil. I certainly wouldn't and I despise diving.

That's it, a reputation. Portugal were by far and away the worst country at the world cup for diving.

I've already commented on the peno against Australia. There's no doubt it was obstruction and any footballer in the world would have went down.

Is that meant to help your argument?

Of course the Italian's have a big, big reputation for diving. I'm not denying that.

You're just making assumptions now. Did you see the Toni v Materazzi video? That's from Italian television.

The Italians got a reputation for being ''dirty'' when players such as Romeo Benetti and Claudio Gentile, back in the 1960's 1970's an 1980's used to kick their opponents. That does not mean that Italy were diving in 2006 by any means. Italy deserved to win last year's World Cup and Cannavaro was the Player of the Tournament possibly with Buffon as the second best player. It speaks volumes about the modern game and the way in which players perform at the end of a long season in a major tournament, that the two best players at a World Cup were a) A Central Defender and b) a goalkeeper.

Can't believe Drogba is not on your top 5 list or has he a list of his own, Superdiver?

oh yeah Italy (and Argentina, and maybe Germany) were the teams that played well in the world cup, and Italy deserved it, but man how many times did we see italians falling to the ground

the proof will be in the CL finals, i would nearly bet good money that Gattuso will go off the field with an "injury", which will have an instant cure, watching his "form" in other games has only comfirmed this

cant remember F Baresi ever taking a dive, he was too good of a player for that!

the italians are even diving in the rugby now, did you see the guy wwith the drop kick and run trying to get a free by bouncing of the opposition player!

Well my eyesight must have been very bad because I could have sworn i seen Manchester United (an English team, who according to you extol Corinthian like dedication to fair play) refuse to give the ball back to those dirty cheating Eye-Ties after they had kicked it out of play during the week there

Without weighing in on whether or not Italians dive more or less than others, there is a bit of a difference between feigning injury or diving on the one hand and, on the other hand, not returning the ball after a team has kicked the ball out of play. The former are clearly instances of cheating; the latter isn't.

Did you expect them to give the ball back after Kaka had clearly been faking injury and then took ages to leave the field?
