You know I think I may have seen you! Agree with you about the timing of the lull too btw! Sweet gig overall though.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Saw them in National Stadium around 1993 or 1994 and they were superb. Then the drugs took over and I saw them again in The Olympia around 1996 and what a completely different show. The first gig was just sheer fun, "bubble grunge" as the NME called it, the second was really dark and introspective.

I hope he's back on form. Guitar pop at its best.

Pretty much an entire set from their first three albums, with about 2 from the new album and 2 from Baby I'm Bored. I checked all the songs I wanted to hear during the course of the night anyway

You might like the new one. Its all very breezy and light. some good one liners in it too(Babys Home). Gig in Dublin was pretty good. I thought the acoustic bit was the best part. I saw him on his own in whelans years ago when he was attempting a comeback and have to say eventho I only knew one of his songs it was one of the most enjoyable gigs I had been at. He always does some really good alt country covers. amazing how they arent a bit bigger than they are as they have some quality tunes.

You can blame Evan and his heroin problem for that, well that and a ridiculous hate campaign by 'grungers' against him in the mid-90s. Agree with you on the solo acoustic shows, saw him in Dolans in Limerick a few years back and it still ranks as one of my all time favourite gigs. He even had a chat with the few people who stayed back drinking after the gig, top bloke all in all

The Icarus (sp?) Line, thought they were hilariously rubbish alright. The lead singer has a severe case of the Lou Reed wannabes about him
