It was in one of the interviews he had either on sky or bbc where he said something along the lines, that it will be good for the lads, knowing there is someone looking for their jersey, so to speak.

I don't know much about footballers contracts but I cant beleive that if david beckham has 5 years in LA, leaves after 2 they pay the next 3 years for no work done. However I know for a fact that other contracts definitely dont work like that.

What ever is in the contract is in the contract
If Beckham contracts for 5 years he has to do 5 yeaars, if he leaves after 2
they won't pay him because he breached the contract not them.
If he has other conditions in the contract he does not fullfill they don't have to pay him. I expect you don't have the same type of contract, or you don't have the contract you think you have.

Hodgson indicated in the interview he gave that he got Duff for a good price. meaning he did not pay a lot for him.

None to complimentary article on Duff here, it says the price was £2.5 million.

    Damien Duff

Typical hack journalism. Just because he isn't falling out of a club every night , and has a private life, he's thick.

Anyway, he's registered & in the squad for tomorrow night. Hope he gets on - I'll send a report.

Scumbag "journalist" pandering to a scumbag readership. You would be hard pushed to find an article like this on the useless Michael Owen in one of the many English/Irish rags.

no i'm with you on that. i think the best thing for him would be to get a long run of games against varied opposition, hopefully no inuries, he's been cursed with them.

Should be, according to this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...pe/8209325.stm
Damien Duff could make his Fulham debut on Thursday after being included in the squad to face Amkar Perm in the first leg of their Europa League play-off.

Nice debut for Duffer tonight. Came on with 15 minutes left and straight away beat his man with a dummy to make a decent cross which eventually found Zamora who scored.
he came on for Gera, and immediately switched with Dempsey to play on the left.
It did make me laugh out loud to see the familiar hands on hips 8 minutes later looking like he had just raced against Usain Bolt!

Seriously, and Ive said this before, Trap should bring him on in the second half. He is the perfect sub to play only one half at high energy. A fresh Duff against a not fresh D, think about it, its not that bad an idea.

i cant believe you used the term "D"...
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

    Damien Duff

Yeah, Damien came on around 65. He got a lucky bounce with his first touch and was past the right back. He then swung in a cross behind the striker who headed it back to Zamora who (uncharacteristically ) smashed it in from around the pen spot. After that , DD looked a bit off the pace , but always showed for the ball , and got a great roar off the crowd. Good debut, still v classy. Hope he starts on Sunday against Combat 18.

He played ninety minutes against Chelsea today. Chelsea were by far the better team so he didn't get many touches. I'd like to see him run at the full backs from the likes of Everton, Portsmouth, Wolves, Burnley, West Ham etc. before the Cyprus match.

Not a bad start for Duff, didn't give the ball away but never had the beating of Bosingwa to cause Chelsea any problems..... Fulham surrendered very early and looked like they were playing for a respectable scoreline so it's hard to judge him.

Drogba has by far had the best start of all premiership strikers.... the man looked, to take a Jaime Redknapp quote, "Unplayable!"

According to the commentator on NewsTalk, he ran into Bosingwa at one point!

Outside of the Fulham defence Duff was their most involved player which is good.
