Oh the times, they are a changing....

Listening to Ray D'Arcy this morning and its amazing how little things I grew up with are no more, or rapidly becoming that way. Only 2% of people are now using cheque books to pay bills....practically nobody uses telephone booths any more.....you can no longer get a chili willi ice pop....CD's will be obsolete in a number of years, and DVD's within a decade they reckon. Video Recorders are a thing of the past....

Anbody else remember things that are no longer....or about to be no longer?

I am one of that 2%, but not all the time.
People still use telephone boxes, but not for their original purpose.
They've been saying that about CD's for years.

That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Space hoppers are still on the go. We have two at home, although my son calls them 'boingy boingy's, and laughs at me when I insist on giving them their proper name.

Fat Frog ice pops, they brought them back a couple of years ago to tease me, as they took them back off the shelves again.

As for CDs, well they saw off mini-disk pretty easily, they dealt with the vinyl revival without breaking a sweat, and they're holding their own against the dreaded MP3, and I reckon they'll be around for a while yet. People like to have something to hold in their hands when they purchase something, not just a new song on their iPod

The re-mix Fat Frogs were a seriously poor cousin to the original and far superior edition that was. I reckon that it was down to the fact that they were all e-numbers. Who'da thunk it - half of Ireland under 12 was in thrall to "e" in the 1980s.

As a matter of anachronistic amusement, I use minidiscs all the time by choice.

Ah they were alright, better then nothing, if not as good as the 1980's version. Another quality 80's ice pop had to be the Robin of Sherwood orange and cola ice pops that went out around the start of the 90s

Just go straight for the Fat Frog drink then. See, it grew up with you.

I still have one of those in my house. And I tell you something, they last a lot longer then newer hi-tech ones.
