He didn't succeed anywhere else which is always a sign of whether someone is a good manager or not.

Owls sign Kavanagh on loan deal

Sheffield Wednesday have signed veteran Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh on an emergency loan deal until the end of October.

Kavanagh is eligible to to make his Owls debut against Hull on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland star joined Sunderland in August 2006 and helped them win promotion from the Championship last season.

Owls boss Brian Laws told Wednesday's website: "He is a top player and will bring many qualities to our squad."

Kavanagh, who has also played for Middlesbrough, Stoke, Cardiff and Wigan, has not featured for the Black Cats so far this term.

"I am delighted Graham decided to join us because several other clubs were interested in him," added Laws.

Wednesday have lost all six of their Championship games so far this season and are bottom of the table.

    Thumbs up

A good signing in my opinion. Will hopefully add a bit of weight to the cause.

I'm travelling over to Hillsborough tomorrow, so I'll get to see first hand how the midfield pairing of Whelan and Kav works out.

Good to see Kavanagh come on board, might help turn this sinking ship around (although won't that mean we all drown?).

As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

Stupid to be suing over such anonymous comments no matter what they are. However, admins be warned if the Delaney stuff etc got out of control with libellous comments. Could find yourselves in Court
