    Eircom League in Europe 2007

    Draws:
    Cork City (InterToto Cup)

    InterToto Cup First Round
23/23 Jun Valur - Away (Hlíðarendi, Reykjavík, Iceland)
30/1 July Valur - Home (Turner's Cross, Cork, Ireland)
Trivia: This year it will be 20 years since Valur last won the Icelandic League; however, they are the current champions of Handball on the island.

    InterToto Cup Second Round
7/8 Hammarby or KI Klaksvik - Home (Turner's Cross, Cork, Ireland)
14/15 Hammarby or KI_Klaksvik - Away (KÍ Stadium, Klaksvik, Faroes OR Söderstadion, Stockholm, Sweden)
Trivia: Should Cork City meet Hammarby, it will be the fourth Swedish team they have met. 'City' knocked Hammarby's local rivals Djurgardens out of the UEFA Cup in 2005, and Malmo FF from the InterToto cup in 2004. In 1997 Cork City beat IFK Gothenburg at home but a heavier away defeat saw them lose out.

    InterToto Cup Final Round
21/22 Netherlands Qualifiers (currently FC Twente) - Home (Turner's Cross, Cork, Ireland)
28/29 Netherlands Qualifiers (currently FC Twente) - Away (Netherlands)
Trivia: The Dutch employ a playoff system between the teams in 6th to 9th place, to decide the InterToto representatives.

    UEFA Cup Second Qualifying Round
16 Aug Opponents 4 (draw will take place 3 August)
    30 Aug Opponents 4

    Derry City (UEFA Champions League)
    Champions League First Qualifying Round
17/18 July Opponents 1 (draw will take place 29 June)
    24/25 Opponents 1

    Champions League Second Qualifying Round
    31/1 Aug Opponents 2
    7/8 Opponents 2

    Champions League Third Qualifying Round
14/15 Opponents 3 (Draw will take place 3 August)
    28/29 Opponents 3
Trivia: Derry City will become the first Irish team to enter the Champions League without being the current Irish champions. Lets hope next time this occurs it will be because of increased ranking and not disqualification!

    Drogheda United (UEFA Cup)
    UEFA Cup First Qualifying Round
19 July Opponents 1 (draw will take place 29 June)
    2 Aug Opponents 1

    UEFA Cup Second Qualifying Round
16 Aug Opponents 2 (draw will take place 3 August)
    30 Aug Opponents 2

    UEFA Cup First Round
20 Sept Opponents 3 (draw will take place 31 August)
    4 Oct Opponents 3

    St. Patrick's Athletic (UEFA Cup)
    UEFA Cup First Qualifying Round
19 July Opponents 1 (draw will take place 29 June)
    2 Aug Opponents 1

    UEFA Cup Second Qualifying Round
16 Aug Opponents 2 (draw will take place 3 August)
    30 Aug Opponents 2

    UEFA Cup First Round
20 Sept Opponents 3 (draw will take place 31 August)
    4 Oct Opponents 3

Were Cork seeded or unseeded for the draw? Icelandic sides aren't usually up to much, so if Cork were unseeded they've had a great draw.

Also do you know who the Welsh reps got? We've never won a game in this competition, a record which will hopefully be broken sooner rather than later!

Edit: have found out we've got a Lithuanian side, probably Vetra, with a Polish side in the second round if we win that. Decent enough draw.

Seeding is only used for deciding the initial rounds teams enter in the InterToto, it does not apply to the individual matches. Essentially, we're a third tier league in the cup, with the representatives of some of the stronger eastern european leagues (eg Czech rep, Turkey) coming in at the second round, and finally the "major league" teams entering in the third (England, France, Greece etc)

The welsh reps will be off to Lithuania, with the away game first.

HB won the Faroes league that just finished so I don't think they're in the InterToto. It may be their less successful city rivals B36 who are in the InterToto, I'm not sure.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Yeah, but when did you last win the Cup or the Super Cup? Not to mention promotion from the 3 deild?

B36, as Cup winners, will be in the UEFA, promoting Klaksvik into the InterToto. Ultimately a moot point as (a) the Faroese teams can only play in either Runavik or Tórshavn and (b) they're not going to beat the Swedish team.

For completion's sake, it should be noted that the Fair Play competition ends next Monday. The final standings will probably be out within a week of that, with Ireland needing a score of above 8.000 to give UCD a chance of qualification. Ireland were on 7.935 in the last update in February. The draw for the two places on offer (excluding the automatic one for the European Fair Play winners) will be at the start of June sometime, I'd say. The successful teams will enter the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Cup.

Just found out our reps could potentially face a Premiership side in the third round. Pity it'll be a Polish side instead.
