Pitch at Whitehall is beautiful (or at least it was last time I was there) but the ground itself is very basic and in poor nick. Covered terracing along one side of the pitch. Decent bar, but (like the pitch) very small. The ground holds about 2,000 at the most.

This is a load of crap. Apparently work started the morning after the Rovers game on friday night and apparently there was a mix up in that it was thought that there wouldn't be another game there for two weeks, when the pitch would be finished, but obviously we are playing Limerick on friday and its only a rumour that the game will be moved to Whitehall as I heard the pitch might be ok by friday. Its definitly not closing down indefinitly.

Probably due to the fact it could be playing host to the Setanta Cup final if Cork beat Linfield.

That and its a premier division ground too

no way youll be able to play in tolka the weekend the pitch needs 4-6 weeks to settle into place, with a lot of watering, we only patched up the really dodgy areas of our pitch pre season and were told we couldnt play on it for 4 weeks, i know some clubs can play on there surfaces a week our two later but that kind of work would cost a fourtune youd be better off with an artiicail surface

    1) It's Kingspan Century park
    2) The pitch at Kingspan Century Park is not good, but it's nowhere near as bad as Tolka. It's bobbly, but it's not dangerous. Plus there's only 1 team playing there, not 2 (or 3 - do Belgrove still play at Tolka?) so it will recover better than Tolka
Apparently Wexford Youths cut it up v badly on the opening game which didn't help

I'll second that, Monaghan's pitch is a disgrace and definitely looked far worse than tolka park. Maybe it should be closed down also

So if its true as stated earlier in the thread that Whitehall only holds 2,000, whats the story with Shels v Bohs in the League Cup in a few weeks if the Tolka pitch is unplayable? Just move it to Dalymount?

Can't see how whitehall would geta first division license at all. There isn't one seat in the place (outside of the bar)

Whitehall isn't a league ground, simple as.

Maybe Shels will play a game or two in Dalymount or Richmond Park. Can't see Whitehall getting a license. If it does - that makes an even bigger joke out of the whole licensing system.

Have seen the 2 pitches in the last couple of weeks and Tolka was definitely the worst of them. Kinspan Century Park was bobbly on Friday night but not dangerous and players could still play the ball along the ground without it bouncing all over the place.

If its an all eL Setanta Cup final it'll have to be held in Turners Cross, the best ground in the country now.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

It's expected to be ready by Friday week so I don't think it should affect your game.

    What a pathetic statement.

The Board must be living in a bubble if they feel they deserve sympathy for the clubs financial plight. There's still a lot of anger in the football community as to how Shels were allowed to be run in the past few years and the false success it allowed the club to achieve.

Therefore crying about spilled milk isn't going to be well received.
