Missed most of the match as I was watching the Madrid derby, but they looked good until they started leaking goals and were clearly benefiting from having Hoolahan on the pitch. For the last half hour, they looked a bit lost and Wes was as guilty as anyone of wasting the ball, but the commentator (Alan Smith or Ian Taylor, I can never tell) said the one thing Hughton should take from the match is he has to make more use of Hoolahan as he had made a real difference.

I wouldn't get too excited. Fer is injured, Howson is just coming back from injury and Snodgrass (taken off at half-time) needs a rest and will get it during the International break after pulling out of Scotland's game midweek.

Still, better he has some proper game time behind him with a likely start against Serbia coming in midweek.

Strange how he didn't celebrate the goal on Sunday.

Out of respect for Lambert presumably. Strange when any player doesn't celebrate if you ask me, and it's gone out of control. Whatever about not celebrating, it really grates on me when the player makes a ridiculous statement of apology like Shelvey last week (criiiinge) or RVP after his first goal against Arsenal. By statement of apology I mean that thing where they put their hands out to say "look at me, I'm not celebrating"!

Only just watched the MOTD2 last night and Wes certainly was Norwich's most influential player, scoring and coming close on another occasion. Plenty of time on the ball too.

Attitutude was good after being out on the sidelines for so long.

Anyway, I was a bit late to the thread but at least the OneWhoKnocks hardon will have wained a little in the meantime.

Hope Wes gets some gametime this evening.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

    Hoolahan "meant no disrespect".

It doesn't matter that he was their best player on Sunday. It doesn't matter that he scored. It doesn't matter that he covered more ground than anyone else on the Norwich team. It doesn't matter that he went out of his way to clap the Norwich fans at the beginning and end of the game. It doesn't matter that he did a fist pump, which is technically a celebration. It doesn't matter that he doesn't celebrate extravagantly to begin with.

Some sections of fans will use it to suit their agenda and stir dissent among other fans anyway.

A triple substitution yesterday, which didn't include Hoolahan coming on got Hughton a chorus of 'you don't know what you are doing' from the 2000 strong away contingent.

Involved in the build up for both goals against Sunderland. Set one up on a plate for the clueless Van Wolfswinkel but he took his goal drought to 22 games. Made way just before the end so he could get an ovation from the home support.

Very influential and hard to see how he hasn't featured more this season but at least he has been given a chance now. I genuinely feared for his immediate future after the "sh!thouse club" controversy.

O'Shea was at sea for the first goal however.

Hopefully this will put an end to him being left out of the team, one of the best rated players (2nd) for Norwich on sky sports

Only problem with all this is Norwich face 4 awful last games and are very likely to be in the bottom four. If they go down Wes will more than likely be playing championship football and not even that regularly....

Wes won't be playing for Norwich next season regardless of what league they're in. Villa and WBA wanted him in the January window. I'd say there's a pretty good chance he will be in the Premier next season, just not with Norwich.

    Does that surprise you?
O'Shea could make a living as a fisherman, because he's been at sea for the last several years. And to think we're about to build a defence around him, with Ciaran Clark or Shane Duffy or Alex Pearce.
Do we have any right to think we'll make Euro 2016?

Sunderland have a worse run in and it's difficult to see the other 2 teams at the bottom doing much.
About 4 more points should do for Norwich. Outside the bottom 3, I'd say Palace are most at threat.

The championship does not loom large for Wes, regardless of what club he's with.

One of the few non gargled comments Trap made during his reign: "Hoolahan, we know he is beautiful" . Maybe if he had given him a shaggin chance he'd be playing regularly for a team that wasnt struggling.

Ah come on now, as frustrating as Trap's selections were, it's a bit much blaming him for Hoolahan's club situation. I don't think playing regularly for Ireland would have raised his profile all that significantly anyway.

No I wasn't blaming Trap for his club situation at all. Just saying he should have given him a proper chance if he thought he was such a ride (beautiful)
