Ooooh - we get a European licence too! Cool.

Five Eircom League of Ireland clubs have been awarded UEFA licences by the Football Association of Ireland’s First Instance Committee. Derry City will be entered in the Champions League with St Patrick’s Athletic and Drogheda United participating in the UEFA Cup and Cork City in the Inter Toto Cup. UCD will take part in the UEFA Cup should Ireland be awarded a place via UEFA's Fair Play table.
Following the decision of Shelbourne not to apply for a UEFA licence, Derry qualified for the Champions League as runner-up in the 2006 Eircom League of Ireland Premier Division. St Patrick’s Athletic, who lost the FAI Cup Final to Derry City, thus qualified for the UEFA Cup.
Because United Park and Belfield Park are not up to the standard required to host UEFA club games, the First Instance Committee ordered that both Drogheda United and UCD play their home legs at a suitable UEFA licensed venue.
The First Instance Committee also reviewed the domestic licences awarded in December 2006 and the FAI’s Licensing Department will be in contact with the clubs in the coming days to inform what, if any, sanctions have been imposed.

You can play your games in the only Southside venue to receive a UEFA license

Anyone know what this is about?!Originally Posted by FAI
Would appear to have nothing to do with UEFA licenses.
Does it refer to clubs that stretched the truth in their December license application and have been caught?
Bit sly of them to drop a little line like that there.
My guess is it refers to them limiting United Parks capacity.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

As always Schumi.
Whether it be Drogs ground or Longfords accounts I'd prefer fines to be imposed instead of point deductions.

I don't think fining Longford will have any real effect, to be honest. Blood and stone and all that.
Exactly, poins deduction the fairest way IMO

For sending accounts in late?
That's a bit petty in fairness.

It's in licencing. The FAI have to see the accounts to ensure Longford aren't going to do a Shels. Longford, I assume, are delaying on sending in accounts because they know that's just what they'll show. A points deduction is fair enough if they're trying to cover things up. They've been late in previous years too, so it's not a once off accident.
