or for example if Glen Crowe was some how included in the squad, would Bohs be able to call matchs off ?![]()
Murphy Out Now!!!
the 2004 summer season when the European Championships are on, will the league still be played while this is going on or will it be postponed for the month ? or for example if Glen Crowe was some how included in the squad, would Bohs be able to call matchs off ?

Murphy Out Now!!!
Munster 33-6 Gloucester
Aint revenge sweet?!
well, i would assume that if there is a major international tournament occuring the eL would break for that month...but maybe i'm being too optimistic?
You can only get a match called off if you have 4 of your players on intenational duty so if the league kept going Bohs would turn to crap for a month
Oh no not them again
well they're planninga break this seaosn for the intertoto, so i would assume some sort of breaks will be taken for euro and world cups
I actually think it's a mistake to break for Euro Championships/ World Cups assuming games can be scheduled around the major games.... When footy fever is at it's maximum, we don't bother playing!!!!
btw why break for the Toto - given the track record of Irish teams in it, it's quite likely to be only 2 games for Rovers....
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
IMO the best way to go when the Euro/World championships are on is to break for the group stages and to slot fixtures on free evenings during the knock-out rounds...
As Macy said there is no point having a complete break over the championships... Anyway personally its town before any other game....
Well I can see the problem if Ireland were playing (or even qualify :S ), but postponing the League because e.g France are Playing Sweden would be buckin' ridicolous. I know where I'd rather be.............At the Live EL Game rather than sitting in the House listening to Jim Beglin!!![]()
I'd rather die laughing than trying!
I'd like to do both.
If games were played during the tournament but not clashing with any Euro games, I reckon there'd be a lot of people who'd go to EL games as part of the whole football fever going on (especially if Ireland qualify). There was a big crowd in Belfield for our inter-toto game during Euro 2000.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
it would be a bit thick not to cash in on that atmosphere that Euro/World comps generate.(i think this is what Macy was saying?). Really a great opportunity to demonstrate the excitemnet that eL holds. I reckon most would agree that there are worse ways to spend a summer's eve.
"I don’t want to tempt fate, but Thierry Henry is not having one of his best nights." - RTE co-commentator Jim Beglin, minutes before TH struck the stunning winner.
