David thought there was shame in DCFC only missing out on the league on goal difference. At the time, Linfield were struggling in the IL - quite a few points adrift. So I offered a bet on whether or not they'd do better than we did.

I also offered him double or quits on whether City would win the league this year ! Thankfully, he had too much faith in us.....

Bet came about when we were five points behind Glentoran around Christmas. Deal was if we won the league dcfc made a £50 donation to Linfield FC and I did likewise with Derry if we didn't.

    Silly steve.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Congrats to the Blues on winning the league.

It will also be good to see a new face like Cliftonville in the Setanta next year.

Being a fan of a team that won 2 out of the 3 trophies in their league last year - and only missed out on the clean sweep by goal difference - you'd be forgiven for expecting me to share the same view as you. But I would find no joy in DCFC romping the Derry and District League every year.

Being a big fish in a small pond is no great shakes. Come join the captive breeding programme in the pond next door. The water's lovely, the company is friendlier, and there's a lot more room to grow.....!
We are undefeated in the group stages for 15 games. I think it's safe to say we are just a big fish on a wee island

Salmon go on an epic, but brief, journey once every year, before hurrying back to their smaller home waters.

Popping cross-border for a few games before returning to the comfort zone of the IL for a full season's worth of games doesn't stop yees being big fish in a small pond.

Stop swimming back to the security of your wee pond and stick around the bigger, choppier waters for a proper length of time - and then we'll see just how big yee's really are.....

Why should we? Why should we be criticised for playing in our own league? Teams all over the world do it. You are the exception rather than the rule and, after all, you have shown that you are unable to mix it with the real big boys, us. Seven points behind in a six game league really is a massive gap.

I find it rather ironic how a Derry City man is talking about big and small ponds.

Derry City where NEVER a force in the IL and for most of the time NEVER a force in the LOI. Derry City always did have a good support, but there team was never any great shakes. One or two good seasons here and there but on the whole your an also ran club. Always where and always will be, no matter what pond you play in.

First of all, Why are me and David being singled out. It takes two to tango.

2nd of all, I feel that this is friendly banter exchanged by two rival clubs. Is this forum not allowed to have banter?

I would understand your comment if there was a slanging match going on, but to me it is pure banter and I haven't been offended by any posts so far.

This is becoming a joke. If anyone has been offended so far please stand up? I feel the moderation on this board are hyper sensitive. Do you not want people to have some enjoyable controlled friendly banter?

In fairness he does say Steves as in the plural. The remainder of your points are very valid though. Seems you are not allowed to defend your club on this forum (watch this thread being moved now)

Yes, the plural Steves was no accidnet. You've had your say, now take it to PMs or Support or watch it go to the rubbish.

For someone who does his share of "fishing", you don't know much about fish!

Salmon are spawned and hatched in cool, clean, flowing freshwater, where they grow and thrive for a year or two. Then they make their epic journey to the ocean, but only to feed for one, two or sometimes three years, before making the return journey back to their original home stream, where they spawn and pass on their genetic inheritance for succeeding generations.

The Foyle was historically one of the great Salmon rivers of Europe, so by your analogy, it would actually be fitting if Derry City, having made their epic outward journey to the wilds, were to return back home, where they belong!

Mind you, it should also be pointed out that although a few Hen Salmon survive all this, so as to repeat the process, the great majority - including all the C0ck Salmon - die from the effort!

Anyhow, I hope this doesn't get this thread closed...

I'll allow it for sheer effort. But if Steve replies it's gone. No more Derry nonsense.
