Its a good idea alright lads. I also think a dedicated WYFC forum linked to the official page would be a good idea too.

Maybe a simple official supporters club membership cert on applying would be agood thing. Cost shouldnt be much, but see what we could get form the club for being a member (ie discounts on jerseys, monthly newsletters etc). To become a supporters club member, there has to be an incentive to join, it has to be attractive or people wouldnt bother. I think the mascot is a good idea to get the name of the supporters club out there, ie have an article in the standard/people/echo and get people to enter competetions to have their son/daughter as a mascot and run it through the supporters club. An end of year players award form the supporters club.

There is lots of ideas that can be done, its just a matter of getting them all down preoperly on paper and finding someone with the time and capability of doing it.

It might be worthwhile getting in contact with some of the lads on the Limerick 37 forum too. Lots of them are involved in their supporters club. They could give some ideas on membership fees/benefits/service provided. Also potential costs and pitfalls involved.

I think supporters club player of the year is a requirement.
    Mascot sponsored by supporters club.
    Bus/buses to away games.
Membership certificate, regular newsletter, competitions to win match tickets/seson tickets/merchandise.
Season ticket discount for club members.
Club shop discount? (obviously there would have to be a club shop first, same goes for season tickets)
Bus from Wex town (maybe Gorey, Ross, Enniscorthy too) for home games players are from all areas so supporters should be too.
Most of these ideas would have to be very much officially linked to the club.

Another primary concern has to be that the supporters club only spends what it brings in or can get in sponsorship.

Worst case scenario is that a small number of people become heavily involved, do all the work, and put their own money into hiring buses and the like. The whole thing goes bust as people lose interest and the same small few people lose money and become disillusioned by the whole thing.

Taz i can understand you being annoyed but thousands of people have attended the games so far, about ten of us post regularly on this site and have been discussing the supporters club.

It's highly possible that whoever made the enquiry to the club has never heard of foot.ie or of what we are hoping to achieve. If it was one of the lads that post here then I agree it's a bit out of order alright, but there may be a valid explanation. (It wasn't me anyway!)

As foot.ie seems to be the best resource for discussing this at the moment is there anyone going to the next home game for definite? It might be an idea to print a few hundred flyers outlining our ideas for an official supporters club and directing people to this forum? Also maybe ask the webmaster to put a little story on the website and direct anyone interested to this forum?

Yeah, there could be people from town contacting the club, so let's not lose the head. As I said, I've heard that some of the lads in Shooters were tinkering with the idea too, so there could be more around like that.

Passinginterest, that's a bloody good idea mate! I'm won't know if i'm def going till next week sometime, but if anyone could do that it'd be great. The club might, just might have some objections about flyers but the website thing is a very workable idea

Even if flyers is a no go maybe just ask them to make a couple of announcements on the tannoy, before the game and at half time?

I agree. As passinginterest said flyers would be a good way to spread the word as such.

Or a little paragraph in the matchday program? If this is possible? Everyone buys one, most people throw away flyers to be fair.

it is important to know what the club want as well if we do not talk to them to find out where they want this to go then we would look foolish coming with ideas that are not in there plan.and by the way it was me who e mailed them for this very reason

Taz - I know you've been in direct contact with the club already, so maybe to avoid confusion and people contacting them asking the same questions maybe you could post any feedback from them here.

    Same goes for Wexfordseagull.

Have a think about being "officially" linked with the club or being independant. There are pros and cons of doing both.
The Supporters Trust idea ala Dundalk and Galway is a good avenue too.
    Best of luck with it.

I have spoken to the PR Guy and have agreed that we here will put forth a concreate plan he can approach the club with.. and he has agreed the same is the best way forth.

Please please please.... can we all agree and get something down SECURE on here and then nominate someone to do this who can see all this through and make it a success!

    On another note...

I have emailed a few coach companies and hopefully they will get back to me on pricing and so forth.

Now... we need a few more quotes on producing a simple "Supporters Club" newsletter. 1 page back and front..nothing special..
Of course any companies who do help the SC will get sponsorship on it!!
and looking to print about 1,000 per match to hand out at all games.. and email all memebers with their copy. (cutting down on costs)
This way members do not need to pick up a lefleat at the ground

Ticket/Merchandise discounting.. 5% sounds about fair?

Supporters Club Memebership: A yearly fee, one price for adults(over 12's) and 1 for Under 12's...

thats why i want to talk to them to put it onto an open forum to see who's really interested and committed to put in the time to make this a long term success for all parties.

Actually lads you're right about the program, having a paragraph/article in it would probably be just as effective as handing out flyers. And also a lot easier to organise. I think Taz should email the club and ask about it.

If they're keen on the idea aswell all that has to be done is drafting out a short article. Could I suggest that anything which is to appear in the programme be posted here in advance, so we can all agree on it's content? Or at least have the opportunity to have some input into the whole thing.

Once something is put "out" there there'll surely be a few more people interested in setting up a SC, and then we can actually go about doing what Taz has outlined in his posts.

wexfordseagull - am I right in thinking you're based in Wexford?

If so maybe you and Taz should exchange personal email's and start working together on this? Obviously if you're in Wexford you're the ideal person to bring all of our ideas directly to the club, and to measure the amount of local interest.
