is there any way of seeing who the most prolific poster is, i.e. most posts per day rather than most total posts- I imagine some of the drogs lads would be up there

They have that on Boards.ie, I'll ask how they do it. If it's a simple change I'll do it, but it's any way complicated I'll leave it for the moment because vBulletin 3 is on the way shortly.
