Atmosphere tonight

Atmosphere was a huge improvement from saturday. Still perplexed as to why the many people around me got tickets for this game (lower hogan to the right of Irish dugout) when clearly they had no real passion or concern about the outcome. Three middle aged men sitting in front of me who didn't say a word to each other during the match nor joined in the singing or applause for the team. Got to the point were i was shouting close to their ears "don't be afraid to sing!". I felt bad for a while after but i felt i was justified in my actions.

We were getting good volume with the two together alright. Great atmosphere yesterday, although, going along with what many others are saying, there is much need for some variety in our chants/songs.

I was up in the upper hogan on Saturday where it was dead, and I decided I have to swap into the Lower Canal. As long as you can sort out the bro for the next games Pinneaple Stu, we can continue as the precussion section of the Lower Canal (where it is officially at btw )

Nice to see a good show of solidarity from the fans and getting behind the team. Roll on the Germans, now that should be something special for us all.

Though the Mexican wave needs to stop !! old hat and as a previous poster says it takes away from whats going happening on the pitch

Not sure if it is the better acoustics in Croke Park but the whistling at the end was deafining. Beats Lansdowne any day for atmosphere.

seriouslly though whats the corner part at the end of the hogan called again not the nally(en), its like they have been excommunicated for bein **** supporters ? the view doesnt look the best from there no more than hte fella in the upper hill on wednesday night with the tricoloured rapped round him!

The atmosphere in the lwr hogan s326 was brilliiant on Wednesday. Everybody joining in and no one moaning about people standing up. Their were different people immediatley to my left, front and back. On Saturday we had four guys behind us who spent the whole game moaning about Robbie Keane and telling everyone to sit down. The 4 guys who were there on Wednesday never stopped singing.

Seems like you were more bothered about the supporters around you than watching the match..

If more people like yourself would pay less attention to shouting at people to sing and more attention to cheering on the team we'd have no bother with the atmosphere

I know this has been covered already but just wanted to get it off my chest. Why would anyone go to a competitive international and with 15 mins to go with the game hanging in the balance, go and join into a mexican wave.

The crowd behind me rarely stood up for the boys in green or join into the chants or songs yet as soon as the mexican wave comes round there all up and excited.

Had to turn around and say something along the lines of - "You stand up for a f***** mexican wave yet ye don't bother for the boys in Green"
That was merely met by mild amusement as they awaited the waves return!

The youngsters who started it are bad enough, but how about the thousands who all joined it

Fair point too. God be with the days before tinternet when we didnt have to create an athmosphere. Seems these days that theres pressure on the crowd to perform as much as the team.

Thought the atmosphere was in a different league to Saturday but it can get better for October as there were a few lulls in the game and the fooking mexican wave started by them fooking schoolboys.

Another thing that helped was that I heard no one moaning about sitting down which p!sses me off, I'm sure they have a tv at home where they can sit in a much more comfortable environment and enjoy the match seated so why don't they fookin do that (Casso).

More real fans there as well but we badly need new songs and we can only really create them at away games and hopefully bring them home, hopefully to Croker after the Eastern European games.

What bothers me is why these people go to these games when there are many fans who would have been much more appreciative of the tickets.

For the game on wednesday it was crucial that the crowd made as much noise as possible to get behind the team because of the undeserved pressure they were under, which was down to the media. A quiet crowd would have unsettled the team even further. I make no apologies for trying to put some life into these silent fans.
