the top 5 thread got me thinking - what are the hardest bosses in any game? Not necessarily end of game boss, just the ones that had you tearing your hair out trying to beat
My picks
Ares - God of War. Can't beat him on anything above medium difficulty
Emerald and Ruby Weapon - Final Fantasy VII. One hit kills?
Green Goblin - Ultimate Spider-Man. Took me 2 weeks of solid playing to finally beat him!
Vega - Street Fighter II. Capcom owe me the better part of 50 quid I spent trying to beat him!!
Final boss Ghoul Patrol - SNES. Can't remember his name, just remember I never beat him.
Orochi - King of Fighters '97. Nearly broke my heart
Special mention for Racing Satander in Champ 00-01, I could never seem to beat them with any team!!
The two that stick out in my mind
Bison form street fighter(Arcade version)
Kane from Command And Conquer Series(pc)

one that sticks out for me was at the end of metal gear solid...dunno his name but i remember being at it for ages!!![]()
My Goal Is To Deny Yours...
I'd go for
1. That ****ing dog in one of the Dizzy games on Commodore64*
2. M.Bison on the arcade Street Fighter
3. Emerald and Ruby Weapon on FFVII (too ****ing right tetsujin)
4. Legion of Doom on WrestleFest the arcade game. (Always the same pattern, you batter Hawk, but if he made the tag to Animal you got hopped around the ring)
5. Sephiroth in FFVII (took ages and he could wipe you out in a matter of seconds)
*I had a few of the Dizzy adventure games on C64, and on one of them there was part where you come to ledge with a drop. There was a dog chained up at one end of the screen and if you hopped down he killed you. What you had to do was drop a bone down and when the dog ran for it, jump over him and leg it. Despite knowing this I never managed to do it, could never beat the dog, despite trying for months to do so. It was just in recent years I was talking about this with a fellow C64 fan and he told me that he had got stuck on the same part, had looked it up on the Net years later and found out that a glitch in the first batch of games released of that Dizzy series in Europe meant you actually couldn't beat the dog, there was NO way of doing it. I nearly cried tears of happiness after punching a wall in anger![]()
the final boss in one of the sonic games was a nightmare. i played it for bloody weeks.
it was set in space or on the aeroplane, i cant remember which.
