Apart from Keegan and Ward most of Irish team was two years younger than the Dutch so should have been a useful exercise.

They're building for the future, the U-21 tourney 4 years from now.

The Dutch scored late on, and Ward had a penalty saved in the first half. More than I expected from Givens, the Dutch are traditionally very strong in the underage ranks
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

Well, in my opinion they certainly did, I was especially impressed by the Irish number 6, I think it was Keegan but I'm not sure. To be honest I expected traditional English / Irish football, long balls etc, but Ireland really tried to pass and play quickly which sometimes resulted in good combinations and chances.

It's a pity Ward missed that spot-kick otherwise Ireland even couldn've won because Holland played far from good, only Drenthe, the goalscorer, did well.
