Bit of bias there, I'm a Drog, so none of my team would make it, but Barry Ryan (UCD) has been easily the best keeper in the league this season, and an EL team without Robbie Ryan! Come on lads, get real. Not only was he the best tight midfielder this season, he has been the League's best PLAYER.

Both of these haven't made the bench on the teams listed already!!

    Team of season

For starters...UCD have only been to the cross once this season...on the first feickin day!!! Barry Ryan is player of the month and well deserved...he has already been nlu player of the month. Outstanding. I'm glad a non UCD fan said it first. Secondly...theres b o l l o c k s all el content in the press anyway...u don't think they'd be writing about ucd really do you?

Regards the team...perhaps Noel Hunt would be due a shout aswell? And as i'm biased, Clive Delaney for centre back...he's defo due a shout anyway

Lastly, Barry Ryan will be in goal for Bohs next season..then they'll be writing about him...altho it pains me to say it...

    Cool Goals, Goals, Goals!!!

Aside for keeper not any team outside the top 4 going to get a 1st 11 player.

    GK: Barry Ryan (UCD)
    RB: Greg O'Halloran (Cork City)
    CB: Dan Murray (Cork City)
    CB: Hawkins (Bohs)
    LB: Simon Webb (Bohs)
    RM: Bobby Ryan (Bohs)
    CM: Hunt or Caffrey (Bohs)
    LM: Wes Houlihan (Shels)
    F: John O'Flynn (Cork City)
    F: Glen Crowe (Bohs)
    F: Noel Hunt (Shamrock Rovers)

    Subs:
Heary (shels), Ollie Judas (shels), Jason Byrne (Bray), Williams or Devine as GK, friars (Derry City) Hunt or Caffrey (Bohs), Crawford (shels) as he always looks a good player although not seem to play much this season.

I don't think Hunt has been as dominant this season & caffrey seems to be much better when always in midfield.
I think Devine while great in a few games has also made too many match losing mistakes. Would have picked one of shels centre backs but they played very poorly in games 1 & 2 against Cork City.
Greg O'Halloran had a storming season (i've criticismed him before), just a pity not in one position.

noel hunt is an excellent player and has played well when i seen him in action but i just think there are better and more accomplished players that woukd deserve his place,

fair enough barry ryan has been excellent and made some excellent saves-but he isnt the tallest-i think devine and williams are better all round keepers-if barry ryan can play every season like he did this season he will play with a better club-nothing against ucd but i dont think they will challenge for league honours-sorry

i can see your point and c delaney, excellent player, suprised he isnt player with one of the bigger dublin clubs-possible city signing!!!!

    Baz and Clive

Ultimately they will be playing for bigger clubs.

My heart wants me to believe that UCD will in the next 5 or 10 years become a club that has a decent support base and can challenge for honours. It's a funny club to support. There are literally barely a handful of young vocal fans who go to games week in week out. As regards away games...i mean the long trips to derry etc, you're talkin 4 if we're lucky. In a way the intimacy of being a UCD fan and having a pint in the montrose with team and officials every Friday and getting lifts home from away games with the club president or team doctor or a players parents or even on the team bus is what makes up for the stick we get and the lack of fans. It can clearly be seen that since a group of us really started to get behind the team in the last couple of years, support is starting to grow...gradually.

The mystery of why students don't turn out in numbers for games will never be solved. People have their own theories and they're all valid...but it still stands that students just do not come out to support their team.

In my mind i think that a decent support base is all that the club will need in the next 5 or 10 years to become a very strong force in the eL. At the moment, UCD has the luxury of being able to attract young attractive if inexperienced fringe players on scholarships. Once they have finished their course, if they are good enough, it's generally off to greener pastures. If the club had a decent support base and the money to pay Barry Ryan and Clive what Bohs or Shels would offer, then they would have no problem in keeping these players.

With the new Uefa licensing we should have within a few months a nicer looking ground and hopefully development will continue. If fans can be attracted in, then hopefully decent money will start to flow.

For the moment we shall continue to enjoy getting behind the team and trust that the management of the club are committed to taking the club forward. If we can continue this run we are on into next seasons first 10 games, we'll be quite happy i'm sure :P

    Ah, it's nice to dream...

    Andy.

For some reason, I've only been concentrating on UCD players' form, so this will probably be a couple of UCD players plus a random selection, so apologies in advance!

    1. Bazza (UCD) - how can anyone say there are better all-round keepers in the league?! Bazza's an unbelievable shot stopper - 3 penos saved this year - rarely drops a catch, even when he's in the middle of about 5 opposition players, is very fast off his line, has improved his distribution vastly this year, and is always talking to his defence. What more do you want?!
    2. Alan Murphy (Longford) - I've heard he's done brilliantly for Longford this season, and they've got almost as good a defence as UCD, so they have to have someone in.
    3. Owen Heary (Shels)
    4. Colin Hawkins (Bohs)
    5. Clive Delaney (UCD)
    6. Kevin Hunt (Bohs)
    7. Bobby Ryan (Bohs)
    8. Brian Byrne (Shels) - if only for that goal he scored against us...
    9. Glen Crowe (Bohs)
    10. John O'Flynn (Cork)
    11. Wes Houlihan (Shels)

    Subs -
GK - Bazza again. Just because I'd love for there to be two of them!
DF - Rob McAuley (UCD). And no bias
MF - James Keddy (Rovers). Has to be some reason they're third.
AT - Noel Hunt (Rovers). Probably would have gotten in the first XI if he'd fallen on his snot during that goal celebreation v. Drogheda (I think) though!

Again, apologies if I've picked someone who's been out injured most of the season!!

Will a select team from the south play a select team from the north this year, it was good to see it the last time. The last time was in Terryland Park, att 200 and they won 2:1 if i can recall, Skippy came on for about 10 mins at the end ... b@stards.

Does anyone know anything about this.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I'm a town fan and no town player would make the eL eleven... The defense was a team thing with Digger as much responcible as the four/five lads in front of him.... Our recent results have occurred during Spuds suspension and spell on the bench.... The cross Sean Dillon provided for Sean Frances' goal against Shels wouldn't have came form the boot of Spud... I'd name Tom Silke or Dillon as a representive of our defense... Cheers for thinking about us tho....

Sounds like the UCD defense although they have 9 instead of 4/5 defenders in front of the keeper.

Seems to be little competition for a lot of the back 4 position for team of the season anyway.
