What's not to get except narrowminded prejudice?
Okay you're starting to annoy me now KOH. Just who exactly the fcuk do you think you are and what exactly are you advocating here?
I think you need to clear up what you've in mind.
Should our supporters confront an individual with a flag you don't like and ask/tell him to remove it? If he refuses should they add a bit of menace?
If he stands his ground should it be forcibly removed?
Is that what you want at Ireland matches?![]()

Calm down ladies! Ok maybe ignorant was too strong for you.
Irish flags with english club names are not acceptable at Ireland games. At the Saudi game a few english tried to hang a union jack. They were told in no uncertain terms to get it down quick. They did.
I've never seen a union jack with an Irish club on it or a German flag with a french club on it.
It's frankly laughable that anyone would defend it to be honest.
KOH
Beep Beep Beep full reverse.
Says you ...and who's army?
...I'll take your word for it that this is the chain of events. But if I'd been there, if I'd been English and it'd been my UJ (bit odd they'd a UJ rather than a George Cross but anyway...) I'd have told you and anyone else to go fcuk yourself. I must've seen tricolours at every friggin game no matter who was playing ...but when we do it it's cute I suppose. If it'd been Brazilians, Croats or Belgians would you have taken offence at their flag? Get over yourself ffs.
Now who's in denial about links?
Laugh away ...just mind your own business and don't be bringing aggro to Ireland matches while you're at it.![]()

I'm surprised that you two who are obviously genuine EL fans defend idiots who put english clubs on a tricolour.
Might surprise you that there are people who dont post on the internet who are from happy about this as well.
Dont know about any links on the last post there though. Never said anything about aggro?
KOH
Am I the only one who thinks this "bickering" is getting tedious?....the key contenders have all made reasoned responses, but enough is enough....shake hands and move on......please!

NYH, cant let you away with this.
I am not defending anyone putting english clubs on a tricolour. My position is quite clear. Read a previous post of mine on this thread:
I find an Irish flag with the name of any British or non-Irish club team plastered on it equally offensive whether it is Chelsea, Rangers, Celtic or Man.Utd. or anyone else and would argue that none of them have any place at an Ireland game. What has allegiance for any British club got to do with supporting Ireland?
But you are avoiding the questions you have been asked several times but declined to answer?
- Is it only the names of English clubs on tricolours you are opposed to?
- Are you opposed to the name of any non-Irish club on a tricolour?
- Are the names of clubs that have obviously Irish links acceptable on a tricolour?
Sh*t or get off the pot!
Honest! I am not a secret Tim nor a closet Sham - I really am a Seagull.
My pot is always full!! I'm not declining to answer any questions:
-Yes. Because it is ridiculous and hypocritical. People who have english clubs on a tricolour then cheer on anyone who is playing england.
-No. Although I cant imagine Schalke 04 or such like on a tricolour.
-Yes. You are alluding to celtic here. It is verifiable that celtic have Irish links and there are hundreds of tricolours at CP on matchday. I am not a celtic fan btw.
Although I do get your point re any british club on a tricolour.
KOH
Thanks for that NYH. I don't think our views are that far apart except for this 'Irish links' thing. I was not only alluding to Celtic although they are by far the biggest of this group. Cliftonville, Hibernians, Notre Dame? and Boston Celtics? all who have made appearances at Ireland games come into the same category.
Your point about supporting english clubs and cheering anyone playing england is well made, although I remember in Lansdowne in May 2000 and in Hampden in March 2003 seeing the owners of tricolours daubbed with Celtic and lads wearing Celtic jerseys cheering Ireland against Scotland. Bizarre!!
Honest! I am not a secret Tim nor a closet Sham - I really am a Seagull.
Guys, I think you need to take a chill pill on this one. I personally would far prefer to get rid of all the idiots who chant republican slogans at Ireland games before worrying about this sort of thing. This uber-fan mentality in ridiculous.
I have I question though. Why is not ok for me to hang my liverpool banner (a club that has umpteen irish fans and umpteen fans in the uk with irish roots) and yet week in week out we have to accept irish fans wearing GAA jerseys, wrapped in tri-colours, abusing our english players week-in-week out.
If u look at the man u and roma crowd trouble you can see irish flags in the man u section.
Also at georgia away in March 2003 there was a massive george's cross in our section. No one made an issue of that.
The Chelsea flag that people are complaining about did'nt just appear in croker. I saw it in Japan i think it was Ibaraki. I did'nt hear or see anyone complain about it then. Why has it taken 5 years. Life is too short to be getting worried about stuff like that.

Irish fans that wear GAA jerseys and wrapped in tricolours are probably likely to bring flags with foreign teams names on too.

Couldnt care less how long it has benn hung. For the umpteenth time putting an english club on a tricolour is wrong plain and simple.
Why would you hang a liverpool banner at an Ireland game? Hang it at an england game surely?
KOH
...in your humble opinion ...to which you are humbly entitled.![]()
...because you're scouse-Irish, follow Liverpool and Ireland, don't follow England or have any particular allegiance or preference for a LOI club.![]()
Seems straight-forward enough to me.
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
Very few Liverpudlians support England, its just not the done thing, even those born and bred in england. How many st. georges crosses do you see at liverpool of everton away games?
Also since when is Chelsea specifically anti-irish? ** Now all you anti-PL/SPL flag ppl be VERY careful how you answer this. Hint : Im setting you up for a fall.**
Reder
Liverpool are an English club - Why would you hang their flag at an Irish Game? It doesn't make any difference whether Irish players play at that club or not. You don't see St. George's cross at Liverpool games because they wave Liverpool flags. You see St. Georges flag at English games because England are playing.
If Ireland are playing, you could try bringing an Irish Flag
