Do we want to get fined!

Went to Shels Dundalk game on Friday night. Was very encouraged by the attendance, however, can someone please explain why the "supporters" of shels continue to try and get the shels fined.

At the start of the game there was around 3 messages almost pleading with the HOME fans not to encrouch on the pitch or set off flares.

Now no one entered onto the pitch but when the teams came out flares were lit behind the ultras (mind you the sign only said ultra) sign.

It looked brilliant, but is this not risking more money been taken from the club. if this is the case why are fans ignoring what the club is saying. It looked great but we just cannot afford any fines so why risk it.

We were told before the Kildare game that flares were allowed to be used and were given buckets of sand to put them out with, also that it had been cleared with everybody, so theres your answer!

Clubs turn a blind eye to Ultras with flares, as do the League I assume.

It did look brilliant fair play to Ultras but it makes very little sense to me, for the club to "ban" flares, saying we will get fined and then allowing certain fans to use them. Surely its either banned or not.

garda clearance, which is usually conditional. some supporters may have been provided with proper safety provisions, and the plea would have been to the other people not to use flares.

wait... no-one ran on the pitch to taunt, spit at and throw missiles at away fans? thats just not shels.

Hate to rain down on proceedings, but im Sorry to inform you that The lighting of flares is prohibited in Any Eircom League ground!!, This will lead to a fine being imposed on Shelbourne, and since a fan had the stupidity to say that Sand buckets were provided for the fans, its even worse.

    Enjoy the Fine

If the club are fine with flares how come anybody who lights flares will be banned according to the news item posted on Shels site?

Personally I'd be a lot more worried about the types who threw full (ish) beer cans at the Dundalk player who went to take their first corner two weeks ago, rather than the (largely) sensible chaps who invest time and money into putting a visual display together. Just to note Bryn Law from Sky Sports was at the Dundalk game and mentioned in his column "...one day perhaps I'll get back to experience the Shels Ultras with their flares and banners, very impressive!"

A few red smoke bombs were used tonight, but didn't really have the desired effect unfortunately. Also CCTV cameras in operation.
