    Steve,

Excluding Gary Beckett(who is retiring at the end of this season) can you name the other players who are employed?

Kevin McHugh, Ciaran Martyn was, not sure about rest. I hear most of the rest spend more time in the pubs about Derry than they do training anyway.

Fenlon wont resign, why would he. He is getting loads of cash very handy. And at some stage he will have a lucky run to cover his ass from relegation. Thats how chancers like him work. He will only go when he gets a pay off which should be soon if the Derry board want to avoid getting into a relegation battle. There is very little chance of them getting into Europe. Has Fenlon ever won a cup with Shels in his time in charge? Drogs have the league wrapped imo while Pats look healthy for 2nd or 3rd. Cork are way better than Derry this season from the brief matches Ive seen both teams ie Setanta Cup and other live TV games.

Given that you also think that a team being mid-table this early on means that they're in a relegation fight, then it's safe to say that your reports and thoughts on issues like this can be safely ignored....

How exactly is Fenlon "a chancer". Is it because he stood by his club and players when Ollie Byrne wwasn't paying wages for significant periods of time last season ? Was it when he turned down a lucrative offer to join Bohs as he was lead to believe that Shelbourne had got their act togetehr ? Some chancer.... Or was it when you open your mouth and nonesense flows out ?

As for cups - he won 3 league titles at Shels, and they're cups too you know. Maybe you think the mark of a good manager is a cup run. Meanwhile, those with any knowledge of football put greater emphasis upon league titles....

Having any players who are in employment means we are not a full-time club.

For the record, at least Pizza and McHugh have jobs outside of playing for the club.

David will no doubt tear himself away from the latest Orange Lodge meeting to gloat in the fact that he has conquered foot.ie and Anglicised the hure out of it, well done fella.

The eternal struggle between part time and pro continues...Ad Nauseam!!

If Gary Beckett delivers 50 letters before he travels 35 miles to see a friend and passes Chris Morgan on the road who has bought a 35p newspaper out of a fiver who is the most professional and why?

Pedantic nonsense. Having the overwhelming majority of your squad being full-time makes you full-time.

Especially when compared to us. So my original point stands. Whatever it was.

Bohs have (AFAIK) two part time players (Harkin and Rossiter). However, seeing as how the rest of our players are full time, I wouldn't dispute the tag Full-Time Club. It would be silly to suggest we were part time on the basis of two players.

Cork City are in very similar situation.

I bet Fenlon was hoping he would have away game next week. IMO losing at home to Bohs will be the final nail in the coffin.

    Pedantic nonsense indeed.

A full-time club has only full-time players. A club that has a mixture of full and part-time players is therefore clearly NOT a full-time club. There's no other sensible way of defining it.

IMO if the club have full time admin staff, a full time manager, and the vast majority of their players are full time, I'd call them full time

So on that basis there is probably not a single full time team in the league. As said above if a club has 1/2/3 players in a 20 odd squad they are a full time team. Only way of defining it!

It is pedantic nonsense as it doesn't detract from the fact that Derry City shouldn't be struggling to make an impression against UCD at home given that we're fully part-time (bar three admin and coaching staff) and Derry's squad is largely full-time.

I work in a place that has 23 full time members of staff and two part time staff. I would class our organisation as a full time establishment. Now that's pedantic!

i think we'll wait for a season (same as Derry). If we can get a few results together then you will see us in contention for the play-offs.
As for Derry i'd be surprised if ye wern't in europe next season. No team in the prem have looked unbeatable. Cork,Pats, Drogs and Derry will be top 4 but in what order i dont know.
