limerickblue - I'm not the most literate guy myself but could you try your best to use the knowledge you gained in primary school and construct proper sentences.

As for Trundle, I agree with Irish_Praha...

If he was ever going to be called up it should have been when Kerr was manager and he was at the top or near the top of the League 1 top scorer's chart.
I'd still like to see him play at least once for us though.

I'm afraid it's in the rules, and for good reason imo.

    Thumbs down

if he was good enough then he would be playing at, the very least, a decent level of football, which league 1 isnt

simply put hes not good enough

ignorance...he could EASILY play championship at least but hes more than happy in swansea.

Its Called COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION which the Ireland squad clearly lack as we have Robbie Keane as our captain

To be honest, that's rubbish-a bit like saying Kevin Doyle wasn't good enough to play for Ireland when he was at Cork, because of the league he played in, yet the second he moves to Reading he's good enough.

Being from near Swansea myself, I've seen enough of Trundle to know that he's a tremendously gifted player who could play Premiership football, even at his age. The fact that Everton were considering a bid a while ago surely proves that.

I think Ireland could do much worse than him and I know he really wants to play for them-so let's hope Staunton gives him a try in one of your next friendlies.

If he didn't get a call up under Kerr, it's never going to happen. At the time Kerr constantly chose Keane, Morrison, Connolly, Elliott and Doherty to play up front. Now you can add Doyle, Stokes, Long, Keogh, possibly Ward and Murphy to that list (and remove the Doc!!), add to that Trundle, by his own admission, isn't playing as well as in previous years, he's hardly going to make the senior squad. The best he can hope for is a call up to the B team and play out of his skin.

lee trundle is no that good. he is definitely not good enough for the irish squad never mind the premiership. we honestly dont need another show boater. we already have one in robbie"plays when he feels like it" keane. we need a striker whos going to score a goal at least every second game not an overweight league 1 player who saunters around the pitch and does some magic when he feels like it against muck teams.

    Trundle. Why not???
Because he is overrated and playing in league 1 for christ sake.
I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

the cork team kevin doyle was part of (and wasnt even the best player in), would have easily defeated any league 1 side (and indeed most championship ones too) . as shown in their wins against malmo, nijmegin (sp?), DIF etc. plus credible resultes with the likes of nantes and sparta prague, it was more the fact that he played the majority of his time out of position on the right wing with cork that he was never considered good enough

but im not arguing with you on this, hes matured into a top quality striker

plus the media hype he recieved when he went to england and did well didnt do anything bad for his chances of getting a call up

I hate Trundle with a passion. The fact we are even discussing letting this journeyman represent us shows up everything that is wrong with the game of association football in Ireland. Like Morrison, if he was good enough to play for England he wouldn't acknowledge the his Oirish roots. He can rot in obscurity as far as I'm concerned. So he can do a few fancy tricks, so can Trevor Molloy!
