I have a Maxtor I bought in PC Pro a good three or four years ago and I've found it solid as dammit. The Retrospect backup software on it is rubbish but it's a great drive. You wouldn't believe how much porn you can get on one of these things.

Was in your position for the last week or so I trawled around the web and checked out a lot of reviews. Came to a final decision and ordered a Sandisk Titanium Cruzer 2GB last night. It comes with U3 so that total applications can be stored on it if this is a requirement otherwise it can be deleted.

    Sandisk Titanium Cruzer

Ordered it from http://www.mymemory.co.uk at the great price of €32.87 incl. delivery.

I'm expecting delivery early next week so I can review it if you havn't decided by then.

Another vote for the Sandisk Cruzer U3 - a great bit of kit.

For a larger external option, what about a Maxtor Shared Storage II - USB and Ethernet etc etc

I've never used Sansdisk kit, but it comes highly recommended.

    250Gig?!

You sure you don't mean 250MB? I think the usual specs for memory sticks anyway is 256MB, 512MB and 1GB. Most computers don't have a 250GB hard drive.

Where did you get it? Can you partition it?

Just a shop in town, Cantec. They have a site, www.cantecne.ie, but it's not great for shopping. I'm sure you could get it in any computer shop.

I haven't looked at partitioning it, but I'm sure you could.

Why would you want to partition it?
There's much of a muchness with different makes.
What I like is the power button on the front and a very quiet operation.
Seagate 320gb for me is tidy enough, cheap and peaceful.

All these drives are fairly cheap these days. Price increases if you want small tidy devices. Without power supply is the best but i think only available you to maybe 150GB.
