UCD's Conor Sammon has been named 'Player of the Round' for the FAI Ford Cup semi-finals. The young striker scored the only goal of the game as UCD knocked out holders Derry City at the Brandywell.
UCD were underdogs going into the match as they were without several key players. Forced to play upfront on his own, Sammon worked tirelessly throughout the match and got his reward on 60 minutes when he scored the only goal of the game.
Sammon has been on fine form throughout the season, scoring six goals in the league and earning his first Republic of Ireland Under-21 cap.
The Dubliner will be hoping that his form can help UCD go all the way to the FAI Ford Cup final. The Students host Longford Town in the semi final at Belfield Park this Sunday (kick-off 3.15pm).
