Bohs edge out Rovers in thrilling Futsal derby


Bohemians defeated Shamrock Rovers in the first ever Dublin derby to take place in Tallaght, edging out the Hoops 4-3 in their Futsal League clash in the National Basketball Arena. The two rivals met on Sunday afternoon in a crucial fixture, with both sides riding high in the FAI eircom Under-21 Futsal League. Goals from Alan Lynch, Phil McDonagh, Ian Byrne and Daniel Egan gave Bohs the points in this classic derby encounter, with Ciaran Kilduff (2) and Mark Langtry netting for the Hoops.

In the weekend’s other Futsal fixtures, Drogheda United recorded their first win of the season with a blistering 6-2 victory over St. Patrick’s Athletic. Drogheda were 4-0 up within 13 minutes and led 5-0 at the break. U.C.D. put went into double figures in their game against Dundalk, defeating the Louth men 11-4. Timmy Purcell was a five-goal hero for the Students, who comfortably overwhelmed Dundalk.
