I defy any LoI fan to read Tim Parks' book and not feel a certain affinity with those Hellas fans

    Without a doubt clu.

But not because of Delaney or Staunton or the current situation. If city has a crap manager and incompetent chairman it wouldnt stop me supporting them.

The team just doesnt mean that much to me. I dont relate to them but still like to see them winning

Sorry but this is worse Poll of foot.ie history. People who support their club week in week out with always favour it above a National team that plays 5-6 competitive games a year. It will be the same for any other spectator sport.

Fair point, should have tried putting it in the Ireland forum for a laugh.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Aren't you a fan of the Extreme Left club Livorno? The one where their star striker gives an equally disrespectful gesture as the roman salute to the crowd after scoring on occasion? I suppose Livorno do have to keep themselves on the front page someway, and Lord only knows their football has never gotten them their

Think you'll find Olympiacos are the club of the urban working class in Athens not the shamrock clad boys

    As for Celtic Park

If your going to be so political about about your club choices then probably best not to follow your plastic paddy leanings

Finn Harps every time. I got a mate who used to go to Harps but hasn't now in about 3 or 4 years. He always asks me which would I rather:

    1. Ireland win the World cup
    or
    2. Harps win the Premier.

I tell him Harps everytime for me. He can't understand it, but then agin he is a Liverpool fan

Linfield first and foremost (when they let us in),
Northern Ireland second.. it is a bit of a no brainer really. Linfield (and I'm sure you guys are the same) are day and daily a part of my life, I watch them twice a week, and talk about them all the time. The National team is the time that we watch the players that best represent our country on an international stage, against the best another country has to offer... a time club rivalries are dropped for a match, and we all support the same team (though it can be heartbreaking sometimes).

Besides, without club football, the National teams wouldn't exist (something both associations need to be reminded of occassionally).

club absolutely and anybody who picks country first is either an idiot or not a true supporter of their club!!

Pats winning an FAI Cup would mean more to me as a fan than the national team winning Euro Champs and World Cup back to back. Problem is none of the above are likely to happen in my lifetime!!

Very true, but i still have an affinity with PAO, they arnt left wing, i believe AEK are but PAO still arnt fascist, just more bourgouse.

As for celtic, founded by a sligo man, have alot of connections with rovers, wille mc stay, regular friendlys etc.

But rovers come bfore all else, i have my priorities in check.

Def club first, in fact I had a choice of one of two games next week, Ireland v Slovakia on the Wed night (i`m already going to Wales game), or Dundalk v Athlone Town on the thurs night, I didnt take long chosing the latter !

Its been said many times before but the 20,000 or so attending eL games each week should be given first options to buy international tickets.

with the current international set-up it's easy to say we'd all go to our respective EL games.

However if Ireland (in theory. not practical as is) had one game left and was basically a qualification decider then I know i'd go to/watch the ireland game.
