Bad light and rain stopped play. The quorum of 20 overs has been completed, so if play doesn't resume today Ireland will win under the Duckworth Lewis method. Methinks the powers that be will are frantically revising downward their criteria of what constitutes playable conditions...

I think they have spare days put aside to finish games interrupted by rain.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

To clear this up after 20 overs the rain day can't be used. The match finishes tonight.

At present we are well ahead. We'll soon be losing overs too so am feeling nervously confident

There's a reserve day, but it's only used if fewer than 20 overs of the second innings are completed. If there's no more play, Ireland win.

What does that mean? We only play 40 overs and add 25% to our score because we should have played 25% more overs?

Edit - seems it doesn't matter if Sheridan's correct?

It means the target is revised downward according to a formula based on run-rate and time available. Won't come into play unless there's a long rain delay and play resumes.

No there is a horribly complex method of calculating based on wickets remaining etc.

Even then it should get easier to win the more time is lost.

Umpires gave the reason for coming off as bad light even though its raining

Bad news if true. Conditions will suit bowling if play resumes. Could play into Pakistan's hands if we're back on anytime soon.

    From Cricinfo:

4.35pm It's has cleared a little, but still not very bright ... the covers remain in place and nobody is looking inclined to emerge from the higher ground. The BBC are reporting that the game will resume tomorrow. With respect to Auntie, we can confirm that the game will not be concluded tomorrow. It's either tonight or we have an Irish win.

1.3, although if the 50 overs are reduced, the bowlers' allocation is normally cut too.
