Just thought i would throw this one open, is anyone else as disgusted as i am about the press coverage in the Sunday Indo and the Garda husband of the poor mother who died giving birth last week, and also the article in the Mail on Sunday about the fatal accident in Lucan last weekend. As far as im concerned it is journalism at its very worst.

Would there have been half as much hulla-ba-loo if the deceaseds husband had been an "alleged crime lord" and the paper had said he was an "alleged crime lord" (Which of course they would have)

    Methinks not..............

Just like the media were informed, by Garda sources, that the late Derek O'Toole (RIP) was 'known to the Gardai'.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Exactly, the hypocrisy of the GRA over this, demanding that the media observe a protocol in future over stuff like this. Doesn't bother them when the deliberately blacken the name of an innocent man killed by a member of the force.

A man was killed when he was run over by a car driven by an off duty guard and with 2 or 3 passengers who were also guards in Lucan recently.

A ban garda who was the wife of another garda died in childbirth last week. The husband had been involved in the shooting at abbervale(I think thats the name)

Disgusting coverage of the child birth case, however, would have similar views to the rest. The ERU cop was unfortunate to reap what the rest of the force have sown in terms of leaks to favoured journalists.

One thing that seems to have been missed by the GRA rush to the moral high ground - who leaked the details of the cops career to the media in the first place? There's no way that the papers got all the details so quick through official channels.
