Cmon County!
Kildare County snap up Darren Stapleton for 2007 season
Kildare County FC are pleased to announce the signing of ex-Reading and Ireland Under 21 player Darren Stapleton.
Darren is a highly-promising left-back or left wing-back who began his career at Cherry Orchard before moving on to Shelbourne and then Reading, where he stayed until the end of their 2006 season. The ninteen year old has played for the Republic of Ireland at under 16, 17,19 and 21 level. The ninteen year old last played in the green jersey when he started the friendly against Luxemburg last October for the Irish Under 21's.
Indeed, Stapleton was singled out by Under 21 boss Don Givens as being a particularly impressive player when in the under 21 squad..
Stapleton plays primarily as a left-back but likes to get forward as much as possible, and is more than capable of creating problems for the opposition defence.
This signing will probably be John Ryan's final addition to Thoroughbred squad for the 2007 season.
