"Over 600" on the Cobh forum for Cobh v Athlone, so will go with 600.

    601 was the official announcement

Wouldn't have put it that high, to be honest. About 1800 tops. Bohs end looked a lot emptier than usual when I wandered up that way.

I would agree with that observation, I think Linfield at the time where averaging around 2800 - 3000, cannot remember off hand.

By and large the LOI is a better supported league. Which I suppose is expected with a bigger populated country that our own, plus the general apathy shown towards IL.

At the moment IL football can only look in envy at the way things are developing down south, with different tv and sponsorship deals.

Although I think the IL is now starting to move in the right direction, in five years or so time, I would hope that our attendances will close the gap with the LOI. I mean that by our attendances rising rather than yours going down as I think it is great to see Irish teams North or South of the border make a small foot print in Europe and also command a support worth noting.

Thing that gets me with IL is that its referred to as local league as if there is no glamour or stars.

Down south we've moved away from that kind of view to an extent with the Premier Division.

    Attendances down all round then?

Aertels report on Longf - Bray says there was a "meagre attendance".

Ye the attendance was low, i'd say about 550 max, but i'd say it was less. About 40 from bray went up, another poor turn out from us. It was a joke about the lights not being turned on, they where turned on just before half time after the 4th offical asked them about 4 times to be turned on, i know longford are cash strapped but that was a joke. Then only half them worked which doesnt help.

Longford appear to be on their knees at the moment and they're trying to pull off this: http://www.ltfc.ie/news/article/?id=...6-8d0e0aa4d76a

Irish attendances this season seem to be obeying the old adage about barometers '' Quick Rise, Soon Fall!'' . Irish sports going public in Fickle Shock

Don't see anything wrong to snear at about that to be honest BF.

A sensible way to generate additonal income for a club - the type of thing we should all be doing if we can.

The shocked-face smiley and use of the words "trying to pull this off" seemed to be negative in tone. Apologies if not.
