From maybe 3-4 years ago our core support has probably doubled & I think we would get 1500 at any match now. We have a lot of big games in the league, cup, setanta cup & europe so only natural fans who can not attend all games will have to choose the best ones.

The closure of the shed last season affected the numbers as vocal support spread around the ground. I still expect the new stand to boost numbers this season.

Amen to that. Would have thought this is a game for live tv. Anyway cork always get a good crowd when we're in town.

UCD v bray, max 450, probably less though, 90% seemed to be from bray, no one stood up at all in the seats when UCD scored apart from the few down the end trying to sing, god loves triers!!

No, 450 is about right. Including about 20 in a very crowded press box for some reason.

I didn't realise it was a requirement to stand up when you scored?!

    What else would you do

As Nick Hornby said, if you're sitting down and your team scores it's an involuntary reaction - like sneezing.

Eh? I don't think I've ever sneezed when Harps scored.

So you think the whole stand would have been standing had Bray scored? Bray had 50 at the very most.

Seriously that's the way the crowd is at Belfield. Most of the crowd seem to be old and so very few fans that sing. And there's always people standing around the ground already.

    5000+ at the Cross tonight.

Donie Forde(1900)- Around 1500 in there.
Derrynane(1185) - About 700 City fans and 350 away fans.
St Annes End(2800) - Around 800 or so in there.
Shed End(1600) - All seats taken and plenty standing on the steps and at the back so about 1700 inside it.

That adds up to 5050, Rovers always bring out the crowds.

looked like a sell- out at Richmond - Stand full, Camac full apart from a no-mans land under the TV gantry, loads behind the goal at the Inchicore end and in front of the (closed) shed - no idea what that adds up to.

    begrudgery

to jebus and one or two others, official attendance at the bottom of the table clash tonight in terryland was 1704. Not exageratted but accurate and GUFC are one of the very few clubs in the league that let their supporters independently assess and count the gate. Also less than a mile away connaght rugby were playing a big game as well

As for your oh so witty remark about counting, well maybe I should have said figured the attendence to be about 700-800 people, but I'd like to think that some day people won't be so anal on this website, obviouisly that day hasn't arrived

Good call I'd say. Stand holds 1800 plus add on say 100 for overcrowding in the Bohs section and the same for people on the steps at the other end. Pats section of the Camac was absolutely jointed, I was on tip toes trying to see half the time and I'm 6'2". I assume the Bohs section was equally packed. Add on a few hundred behind either goal and 4500 sounds about right.

And you're right, Pats will understate the official attendance.

Just interested, why will Pats want to understate their attendances? I've seen the way they count the attendance (pre-numbered tickets, deduct the unsold numbers from the total printed), it would be easy to check so why not ask to check it one night if you don't believe it?

The website has a figure of 3728.

They have a billionaire businessman as an owner and you think he'd happily agree to risk his reputation with Revenue over a few hundred quid at Pats? Highly unlikely.

Very decent crowds overall tonight by all accounts esp in cork and at pats, galway too deserve a mention for a very healthy turn out considering their awful start.
