And what about the gaa official who was robbed as he brought a portion of the takings south of the border after a match in Casement Park. No wonder they usually play Ulster finals south of the border where there is no VAT due on gate receipts compared to north of the border. It must be a regular thing for gaa officials to issue crowd figures that suit them.

I'm still finding it hard to guess with the new Shed.

I think that is fairly accurate. 2,800 might be better. 2000 is too low as there was more than the Vadur game.

Galway Bay fm thought about 2,000 in Terryland tonight. I'm sure there will be an official figure later mind.

Very impressive figure for a Tuesday night. Any particular reason?

    Down to:
-Consisitent Large Support we've had all year
    -It was Sunny
-Nothing else to do on a Tuesday anyway.

Brillaint crowd though and for a team who hasn't won at home they've got fantastic support all year.

A few weeks ago we had a much bigger crowd for a Tuesday night game than for one on the following Friday despite playing teams of similar stature on both occasions. Midweek seems to work quite well during the summer where there is little in the way of competition from the champions league etc.

It's pretty amazing that Galway United have the 3rd highest average in the Division given our league position.

We're opening a new stand shortly and our crowds will probably increase in the second half of the season!
We're also likely to have something to play for too so the games will be important.

Also great to see the improvement in the Division 1 average, Dundalk are getting great attendances and will hopefully get promotion this season. Fair play to Shels fans too, being at the wrong end of the division is horrible.

Perhaps the Cork City fans will confirm or deny their estimations of the crowd.

There are other indicators of the size of the crowd; I observed there were massive queues for the toilets and the fast food trailors. Also, there were cars parked on both sides of the road back to the Menlo Park Hotel which is unusual.

I reckon a lot of folk came to see Farrelly and Healy play for Cork and Galway United's four new signings. Also, it was generally expected that the new stand would be open to the public but it has to get clearance from Health & Safery first.

The attendance that you doubt is printed on the GUFC website match report....
    http://www.galwayunitedfc.ie/news-fe...rk-city-2.html

Another factor which may influence sduffy is that she/he frequently posts here and on the GUFC forum and throws her/his toys out of her/his pram. Get over it

sorry that figure should read 3072. Because of the new stand side being closed you couldnt swing a cat in the rest of the ground as tight as when we had over 7000 at the Pats quarter final all those years ago.As for s. duffy get over it .

yeah the old stand was packed and both ends were full. the 3,000 sounds right to me.
massive crowd for a tuesday night and it got me wondering if all games were played midweek would we get bigger crowds as there is no distractions.....
.......or perhaps it was because it was cork (with healy and farrelly) on a very nice evening and curiosity about the stand.
