Under the terms of Rule 4 (d) (iii) of the 2006 season eircom League Disciplinary Procedures, suspensions imposed by the Disciplinary Commission which come into effect in the 2007 season must be implemented on a week by week basis rather than all accumulating to be effective from the first match of the season. The only exception to this rule is the imposition of the FIFA automatic suspension rule for red card offences. Club affiliations listed indicate either current club or club at time of imposition of suspension.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Fenlon frustrated - Late notification of suspensions angers Brandywell boss
BRANDYWELL boss, Pat Fenlon, has expressed his frustration at being informed only yesterday that his versatile defender, Dave Rogers, will be forced to sit out this Friday night's opening eircom League game against Bray Wanderers.
Having just received official notification that the Liverpudlian had received a one-match ban following a carry-over of penalty points from last season, Fenlon questioned the timescale involved given that the Premier Divisioin season was due to kick-off this Friday night.
"It's obviously a brilliant ploy by the league to send out the suspensions just four days before the season is about to kick-off," declared Fenlon sarcastically.
"I don't think there's any excuse for that, after all, these suspensions were due at the end of last season and, therefore, there's no cause for delay. Teams are now well on their way to preparing for their opening matches and to inform the clubs at 12 o'clock, four days before the start of the season is ludicrous and that's for all the clubs, not just for us.
"Obviously, we have records from last season and our list informs us that Killian Brennan and Clive Delaney were due to miss the first game and, indeed, Bray have been in contact with us in relation to that. I don't know how these suspensions have been formulated but we've received notification and Dave must miss the Bray match," he added.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls
Another fine on its way North as we speak
Why don't the suspensions all commence from the first week of the season like they used to?
We were going to buy a new fax machine until the FAI fined us E5k, therefore we will justifiably be unaware of all suspensions for the forthcoming season.
Thanks.
