first of all "the less literate gallagher"...and you have the guile to quote him..did you see him at the brits...he cant sing anymore!!

easy to dismiss gorillaz but if you listen to there abums they are very good

im not going to get into an argument because music is subjective...each to their own you know....i was a massive oasis fan and i still am but after seeing them at oxegen a few years ago and then at the brits...i just wouldn'd bother anymore with them live....liams voice is shot...years of singing about the "sunshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine"

    still great tunes!

    Listen to some tracks online.

Excellent stuff alright. Good to see Paul Simenon back as well.
Not wishing to add to the blur/oasis debate but I've always felt that oasis while releasing decent enough songs are alway quite predictable. Blur/Albarn at least try new stuff.
Yes, I'll definitely have to get this.

Basically a pile of tatty B-Sides that were lying around Damons riverfront apartment since the Blur days

So by that logic , The Good the Bad and the Queen will be made up of Gorillaz B- sides.

Gorillaz are fekin genius. Nothing tatty or B-Sidish about them. Albarn is Mozart to the Gallaghers' George Formby. The sheer scope of his songwriting puts him up there with the likes of Eno and Bowie IMO.

Modern life is Rubbish, Parklife, 13, Gorillaz, Demon Days and The Good the Bad and the Queen are modern British classics.
Leisure, Blur, The Great Escape,Think Tank and Mali Music are also really good albums.
Quoasis haven't done anything worthwhile in 12 years, and even then it was derivative rock n' roll.

I have it i must admit i havent listened to it as much as id like to have but i like what ive heard so far .

you cant compare Albarn with the oasis brothers , albarn has changed direction plenty of times now and done it very well , think tank was completly different from what blur normally did , gurrilaz again changed even the 2nd album was different from the first , and now this one and all are really good .

oasis i liked when i was 15 now i look back and think how where they so big ??? 1 good album of by the book pop rock , one ok album and the rest was pants .

    plleassee

Blur are just as derivative as the rest of them , They owe a huge debt of gratitude to the songwriting of Ray Davies.

presumably you bought all the albums then in order to come to that fully formed opinion.

and damon would openly admit that..he has said the biggest thrill in his life was meeting ray davies....but there is a difference to be influenced by someone..and blatently robbing solo's or chord structures!!

hey dont get me wrong i love balls out rock and roll....but damon had always written stuff with a bit morre class than noel...

as i said before the beauty of music is it is totally subjective!!and thats why after religon and football its probably the most argued about topic!!

What Shannonman said. For one thing the Ray Davies influence is only really evident on albums two and three (out of 7 albums!). Another thing is that Albarn takes his influences and builds upon them.

So do Oasis , Noel said he always regretted saying his big influence was Beatles cos everyone picked him up on it , said he was always influenced far more by Slade , most great Oasis tracks i know sound just like Oasis themselves rather than anything else , as Noel says they could experiment but thats not what their fanbase want,

    Fanbase shmanbase.
Their original fanbase wanted that. Everyone I know that was into them in the beginning including myself were bored with them by the time the third album came around.
What Noely G is really saying is that its easier to sell records if you don't artisticly challenge the music buying public. Its the difference between being an artist and a used car salesman.
