Bohs and Rovers eircom LOI Clash Re-Arranged

All because our SUPERB Police Force can't control more than one event at a time - but then again they couldn't police ****e in a paper bag...

Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers eircom League of Ireland Clash Re-Arranged

The eircom League of Ireland Premier Division game between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers originally scheduled for Friday, March 23, at Dalymount Park has been switched to Tuesday, April 3. The decision was made following a meeting between the two clubs, the Football Association of Ireland and the Gardai earlier today.

An FAI spokesman said: “The original fixture was on the night before the Euro 2008 qualifier between Ireland and Wales so it has been moved for operational reasons.”
If it wasn’t bad enough I've just checked and it also coincides with the first quarter finals of the Champions League which no doubt will include a Brit club of some description.

Obviously none of us give a toss but for the floating punter it’s a no brainer. Nuts.

Hardly their fault there will be elements* at both games intent on causing trouble.

    * will not be bohs or rovers fans will just happen to be a group of people randomly kicking the **** out of each other with no connection to either club.

No but the English/Scotish cops manage to police games with far bigger crowds and bigger threats.

Don't know where they got Birmingham from on a press release, surely Cardiff/Swansea? What we're seeing is our cops basically admitting that for this, and any similar scenario in the future, they can't handle it. Total disgrace. Will the FAI/Cops hand Bohs over their loss of income/tv money etc? Not likely is it.

That's a very naive view. Where'd you get that?

He was being kind to you lot. There'll be people theere supprting both clubs just there looking for trouble. Nobody's saying they're representative of each clubs fans but nobody can deny there will be people at that game, looking for trouble.

Nor is anyone saying, as has been suggested, that they are random groups of people.

That's the bottom line. What's doubly annoying is that I knew about this before either club - through my job - and I fear this is how the new super duper League will be run - by FAI diktat.

BTW Pats WUMMERS - mind your own business.

If some Bohs & Rovers fans did not cause trouble at games would not need extra gardai on duty.

It all means we have 3 away league games in a row, bohs, Bray, and Cork in 10 nights.

What I find insulting is the fact that the league is on the same w/end as international fixtures. The FAI don't even bother with the pretence that LoI players might get picked for the international team.

    Yes, I think so too.
It's a common way of introducing an argument you have no hope of supporting.
