He's a cute hoor I'll give him that and nothing else.

Paint it that it's the press' fault for blowing things out of proportion and the fans are an irrational powder keg waiting for a fuse to be lit.

    Get the fcuk out John.

Spot on. The auld its not me I'm worried about. Its all these others who might kick me out when the wheels come off in our next few games. Blame the media for printing the results!

lol blame rte and sky for showing the games , if we hadnt seen the cyprus or san marino games no-one would be calling for stan or delaneys heads !
Surely there must eb one journalist with the savvyx to take him to task for all he has done in a way he could not wiggle out of.
Was he crazy!! Yeah , in a very special way , an Irishman.

They were both on TV3 - if they'd been on RTE Stan would already be gone - FACT!

    You know what ...you're right

Can you imagine the two boys (okay AND Bill and Liam) and the spandau-like withering fire they'd have unleashed while their rage was new and without the cooling influence of time to coat anything in diplomacy.
It'd have formed a focal point, the first rolling of a snowball into a mighty avalanche of righteous national disgust.

He'd be gone ...and Delaney with him.

Dunphy and Giles are a national treasure and we'll miss them sorely when they're gone. It'll be two less for the FAI to worry about.

Well I am not sure about that as Giles thinks that Delaney is a good CEO of the FAI and that he should not be held responsible for the hiring of Staunton.

But the important thing in the first instance is Stan would be gone. I'll suffer Delaneys poor judgment if that could be achieved. Though in the cataclysm that would have followed the scenario above -where Stan would be fired -possibly bought out of his contract even -it's not hard to imagine an EGM and a motion of no confidence in Delaney.

    Incitement. What's he on about?
The whole Stan/ Delaney Out protests or some article in particular?
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

If we get beaten by Wales in Croker and put in another desperate performance (highly likely) I think it probably will kick off.

Why does it have to come to this? Shouldn't we the fans (and to a lesser extent the media) be listened to or is this just going to go on and on and we're powerless to stop it besides venting our frustrations? This level of clueless sh*te wouldn't go on in any other European country. Even Vogts was far better than Staunton.

Can you really see a member of the FAI National Council calling for an EGM to discuss a motion of no confidence in Delaney and by implication of their support for him, in the Board of Management.

Even if there was a brave soul who was prepared to put his (or her!) head above the parapet, you would have assume he (or she!) would have tested the water beforehand to gauge if they had the required level of support required to call an EGM.

Go and ask your club's representative on the FAI Council to start the ball rolling!

It is not going to happen.

Read the thread from the start. I'm talking about a hypothetical past in which RTE -not TV3 - screened the Cyprus and San Marino games and the fallout that would've resulted from Giles and Dunphy getting their teeth into Staunton and by extension Delaney live on air as the nightmare was unfolding.

Regardless of what TV stations showed the games and any resulting media fall out, for an EGM of the FAI Council to be called to discuss Delaney/ Staunton or anything else, there is nothing hypothetical about the FAI rules which are quite clear:
Rule 15 (I): Special meetings may be convened at the request of the Board (of Management) or on receipt of a written request signed by 20 Council members

I cannot imagine Delaney or Staunton letting themselves get into a position so untenable that they would leave themselves open to 20 members of the FAI Council calling a special meeting to oust them. If either of their positions became that untenable, they would go before any EGM was called.

I have to say I am getting increasingly worried by the performances of the team. It is now abundantly clear that Staunton is not cut out for the job and needs to be replaced. However, I can't see that happening even if we were to lose both to Wales and Slovakia ... the situation is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better I feel.
