Does this mean Pats are in Europe then?
The FAI can confirm that Shelbourne F.C. has decided not to appeal the decision of the First Instance Committee to award the club a First Division licence. The club has, however, appealed against two of the conditions imposed by the First Instance Committee pertaining to the awarding of a First Division licence. The Appeals Board will meet next week to discuss the matter. The FAI will make no further comment on the matter until the Appeals Board has met
Does this mean Pats are in Europe then?
Looks that way, if they are not going to pay those players by the UEFA deadline we in europe.
Tbh thats just bing greedy winning the Setanta Cup is enough
kdjac
Could the appeals committee not have arranged to meet sooner?
I mean we still won't know for sure if Shels well be in the league next week.
Shels are playing in First Division this season and, as they are not appealing the section of the first division license that determines that they can't play european football, it means Derry take champions league spot and Pats, as FAI Cup runners up, will take Derry's place in the UEFA cup. Now, hope that has cleared things up a bit. Although that is the situation it won't be confirmed until the end of March.
We don't know for sure if they will be in the First Division.
If they fail to win this appeal then they won't get a Division One license (it was conditional, remember), and we won't know how the appeal pans out until next week, the week of their first scheduled game
What are the two conditions they are appealing
Are these appeal processes costing them more money??
Not to be rubbing their noses in it, BUT I think that when this process is done and dusted (notwithstanding I do hope that they continue as a club in the eL/FAI League), that they should be stripped at least of last seasons title and/or any other titles they have previously attained under the false pretences it is evident they 'won' last years league.
I got no lips I got no bones where there
were eyes there's only space
Yeah??? That what you think??? What about the players who went out and won the title dispite not being payed??? What about the fans who traveled all over Ireland and Europe supporting them last year???
Sitting pretty!!!
What about the fact that if you had of spent money you could afford to spend you would have been fighting relegation rather than winning the league?
You barely beat Derry. If you didn't massively overspend you would not have. Simple as.
It is cheating in a way, bus most Irish clubs overspend, just not usually by as much.
I have to say that that is my only gripe with the whole, they didn't raise the bar, they pushed it pushed so so much that no one, not even themselves could reach it. Fair enough if they have investors/revenue or whatever but it was unfair as it wasn't money that they had. There was nothing stopping any other club doing that before the licencing really got under way. Thanks be to fawk no one else did.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
I agree, it wasnt the players who put the club in the mess they were in. At the end of the day they went out and done their job. Now being honest, if someone here was offered good wages at a club, wouldnt they take it. Thats what those who signed for Shels were thinking, thinking about their families and how the wage they are gettin would be a nice, in fact comfortable wage. Ollie Byrne got Shels into this mess, not the players. They won the league fairly and should therefore not be stripped of it
Err, "despite two of them having "clerical errors" and despite big fat porkies being told at every hand's turn by a person no longer at the club" I think you meant to say.
Shels have taken their punishment. There's nothing in the rules to say we should be stripped of the title for overspending.
No Elvis, Beatles or the Rolling Stones
In 1977
OK, two then (except we got back the points for one). Of course, Dooney's investigation found similar errors at every club in the league but the important thing is that Ollie, Fenlon and the rest got their precious Champions League spot. Maybe if Shels had got past the Maltese Hibees they would have made just enough money to postpone their implosion for another season.
I'd be more concerned about big fat porkies being told at every hand's turn by a person that still owns a club and appointed his nephew to take charge when everyone else ran a mile from it.despite big fat porkies being told at every hand's turn by a person no longer at the club" I think you meant to say.
