Im wondering if the game will be on. Very heavy rain the last few days and the pitch was waterlogged Saturday.

Just chatting to someone from LTFC and at the moment the pitch is fine
and the game should go ahead.

LTFC website will be updated immediately if there is any change.

(Cheers to whoever I was talking to, much appreciated info)

I hear Athlone won! Its a real pity we didnt get to play you on Sat so that could have had a better idea of what Athlone are going to be like!

What did they look like? Will they be hard to beat?

Tried to pass it at times. Pitch was crap though. I'd say they'll be favourites to win the 1st myself. Weren'e anything special but were solid.

Well I think they will need to be a bit special to win this season as there seem to be a few solid teams about!

I thought they were exceptionally average.

Thought more of Dundalk to be honest.Athlone are big and strong and were really up for it. We should have won the game I reckoned with Rutherford particularly unlucky though it was a great clearance off the line. Mooney missed a complete sitter in the first half. Athlone didnt really create an awful lot. Hit the bar with a free, plus the own goal
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

If Longford were as lethal in front of our goal as their own they
could have scored 4 or 5.

Sparky was unlucky with his effort but it was a great goal line
    clearence.

PS Where's our Cup!!!!! We had an open top bus ready to parade
around Athlone with our 1st trophy of the season

Mixie and The Heff impressed which is a good sign.

We deserved to win but we didnt take our chances. I am extremely impressed with the form of Gary Deegan who is a terrier in midfield. Sparky is top drawer- the best crosser of a ball in the league imo. Mooney is fond of missin the sitters too many times imo.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

wasnt at the athlone match, but am impressed by Deegan looks a good player, capable of putting his foot on the ball in the middle and spreading it wide. Hopefully Rutherford too can do a job very us, always thought he was a very good player
