Team spirit is high and chatting to some of the players and they were saying that the training sessions are top class.
There is a buzz round the town for the first time in years
I hear Athlone have gone from 40/1 down to 7/1 for the first division title. Sounds good. I could be trading in my Rovers jersey for an Athlone Town one...Should give me somthing to shout about.
Whats that comin' over the hill
It's the Monster,
The Cookie Monster!
Obviously im bias and i think we will go up,with the great support behind us,great turnout for the first game.
Forgive my ignorance, but whats the story with promotion/relegation this year? presuming top of the 1st replaces bottom of the prem and 2nd of the 1st and 2nd last of the prem go to a playoff???
Not being smart, but what do you make of your title hopes now???
I still think we can get out of this division. All teams will drop points. As long as we continue with the good results on our own patch and get results against the teams we should be beating away we will be up there.
The important thing out of this result is how we react to the defeat starting with longford on Monday and the Shelbourne on Good Friday
We have weaknesses and Dundalk exposed every one of them ...
some of them twice
Its the big kick up the aras we need so as not to get carried away
with beating Kilkenny and Wexford.
Dundalk were good value for the win and very organised.
I still think we'll be there or there-abouts in the final shake up

Based on the games u played prior to thursday i thought u looked pretty good, but as you say you had a lot of weaknesses exposed in oriel, if O'connor can sort the weaknesses out, which will be a tough enough task, i reckon you will be in the top three come november, but based on thursdays performance, you should forget about any ambitions of promotion, and like i said i'm not being smart or unduly critical, i'd love to see Athlone in the Premier.
