What does this mean for Shelbournes appeal?
They hardly are going to let shels successfully appeal and turn around to Waterford next week and say 'sorry lads but ye're actually not in it'
Waterford United has, this afternoon, accepted an invitation from the FAI to participate in the FAI eircom league Premier Division for the coming season. The club received the invitation following the revocation of Shelbourne’s licence to compete in the new look league and is subject to the appeals process that is currently underway.
“The club considered the proposal carefully and decided to accept the invitation in the best interests of football in Waterford and the eircom league,” said club Secretary Larry Gough. “We will be meeting this evening to consider the implications for the club and with the new season just three weeks away it means that there is a lot of new work to be done. More than ever, we now need the support of the people of Waterford City and County to get behind the club at this time.”
“This is fantastic news for the club,” commented Waterford United Manager Gareth Cronin. ”It is every manager and player’s desire to compete at the highest level and Waterford United can now look forward to taking its place in the new look Premier Division. These are exciting times ahead and I have every confidence that we can be competitive in the new league. Obviously I will look at our preparations a little differently over the next few weeks as we have been preparing on the basis of playing in the First Division but the bottom line is that we are thrilled to be involved in the Premier Division.”

I think it would suggest the appeal if there was one would be not looked upon favourably I assume?

the best thing shels can do is forget about the appeal and take their punishment, might be better of in the 1st div for one season 2 dust themselfs down and rebuild the club.
Shelbourne were granted a First Division licence with conditions.
Maybe one of the conditions is that they don't launch an appeal???
Once they get themselves together they still have to play there way out of the division. It could be more like 5 or 6 seasons. I agree that they should be thankful for this opportunity! It still could be a lot worse for them if they don't get their tax clearance...
